Are Vacuvin's effective with champagne?

The one I have isn't champagne specific. I think it would do the trick but I don't want to risk the bottle if not.

Pretty sure it would have just the opposite result. The champagne would become flat even quicker. Doesn't the vacuvin suck the air out? Forming a vacuum? Not what you want with a carbonated liquid.
