Surprised his name hasnt come up lately. A bigger school could probably get him pretty cheap too.

Too much baggage. He was lucky to get the job he got that soon. Also he is a divisive personality, one that a strong AD and Department will be required. Of the jobs out there, I do not see a job open .

I don't see another big time school taking a chance on him.

Depending on the coaching shuffle that may happen with some big opernings, I could see Petrino moving to a AAC or lower tier ACC school.

He'd be a good replacement for one of the Kansas schools. That's about the level of job he'll get.

You're crazy. If he puts another 8-4, 9-3 type of year together next year, he'll land a much bigger job. Not that it'd happen but the guy would be lethal at Texas. Top 5 coach, IMO

The problem isn't his coaching ability. Its the part where you knowingly put someone who broke multiple rules at a public university before.

quote:

Petrino’s hiring of Dorrell wasn’t just sleazy, it was almost certainly illegal–remember that University of Arkansas is a state university and Dorrell was getting paid with state funds–and in direct violation of any number of university personnel and conflict of interest policies.

LINK

THAT'S the shite that will keep him away from a "major" university.

If I'm an AD I'm not putting my career in Bobby Petrino's hands.

No kidding, could you imagine hiring him and then he does anything remotely scandalous? Good bye your career, because people will think you are a dumb shite.

doesnt he have some big arse buyout that makes it really hard for any school to want to hire him away for the next couple of years?

Not anytime soon.

No much bigger school is going to gamble their creditability on a guy who took advantage of a 25 years old woman working for the school, filed false police reports, lied to his boss, and lied to the schools fans.

Plus, the guy was a well known D-bag even before the Bike crap happened.

not that it matters, but he didn't take advantage of her. She kinda took advantage of him and they both tried to take advantage of the school.

The buyout is everything WKU has payed him up to that point until the end of his contract - at least that's my understanding. Basically, if he bails early they had a free coach while he was there.

This.

No AD at any big time program in the country has the cache and job security to hire Petrino and then withstand it blowing up in his face if it goes south.

Great coach but has literally never left a head coaching job on good terms.

No, he won't. He's a great coach, but his name is wrecked as far as getting another shot at a decent BCS school.

The best he'll do is some AAC or ACC afterthought like Virginia, Pitt or Syracuse. How the heck is he supposed to recruit? He sucks at recruiting anyway, Harleygate only makes it tougher for him, especially when it comes to negative recruiting from other schools he'll have to deal with.

While I understand where you are coming from, there are NO work place settings on a college campus where she would be found to be the one with the power over Petrino to take advantage of him.

If he puts up a couple of more good years at WKU then a desperate program will come after him....not a traditional powerhouse program but one trying to make that jump. Ms State level type program.
