Here's a cut and paste from google. Notice anything?

quote:

4-star Laurence 'Hootie' Jones decommits from Alabama - SB Nation www.sbnation.com/college.../laurence-hootie-jones-alabama-recruiting-lsu 23 mins ago - One of the top defensive backs in the 2014 class is no longer committed to Alabama. Will he stick with the Tide come National Signing Day, ...

5-star safety recruit Laurence 'Hootie' Jones commits to Alabama ... www.sbnation.com/.../5-star-safety-laurence-hootie-jones-commits-to-ala...? Dec 2, 2013 - The Tide add their fourth five-star prospect in the class.

You summed up their entire recruiting culture with that post. That same perspective cost them an extra 2 million a year by coming in third. Must be cool to get a huge raise and extention for underachieving. And then hold the whole thing hostage for a week just in case anyone had forgotten who is running things around there.

That's close to Absolute Power by the football coach. Could end messy.

Another example is Rivals ranking of LB Clifton Garrett. Him being a 4 star is laughable.

247

Hasn't moved his rating since October. Their composite ranking has dropped, but it's derived from their rating and the other sites', so that's because of the other sites, not them.

it's been laughable the last few years since saban got to bama

4 star kid becomes a 5 star when he goes to bama

then back to 4 star when he de-commits

Alabama should run a side business.

"Verbally commit and get a recruiting bump. If you are devoid of common sense and actually want to go somewhere else, we can help."

What was the recruiting service that SB nation was using as its source? Was there a change in the rankings since his commitment?

It reminds me of the Cam Rob thing. A week before he committed (and was expected to be a Bama commit) he moves up in the rankings above LF so that all of the headlines can read "Alabama steals #1 Louisiana prospect for LSU".
Then they move him back down to where he belongs after the smoke clears. Its ridiculous.

While some of this may be true, but is another program in America that has more talent and depth?

their recruiting rankings parallel the product we see on the field.

I.E. -that freshman TE that went 70 yards on LSU was a freaking stud!!!

Why do I feel the rest of the article would be written like this

quote:

Will he stick with the Tide come National Signing Day, ...Does he want his 5th star back???

Add in the Tim Williams saga last year. Kid had sunk to 10th or 12th ranked recruit in LA and LSU had actually grown weary of his recruitment. Then as soon as he commits to Bama headlines read "Top Recruit in LA commits to Bama again..."
