Why not utilize more of a 3 step drop back?

With the pressure Brees has been under when he goes to a standard dropback, why haven't the Saints utilized a 3 step drop on occasion? I'll hang up and listen.......

While I appreciate the sarcasm (seriously!), is that the answer - we lack any credible wr or te that can get open on a quick slant/route? My fear is that with the state of the ol (even if they bench Brown), this team is at most a one and done playoff team, unless they change something p drastically.

This has been posted so many times in the last couple days. I'm getting sick of it.

"Saints are done, it's over", would be better, IMO.

Our offensive line is worse at run blocking than they are at pass blocking....which is a scary thought.

Our receivers are great because of Brees. Without Brees, they are average at best. Graham is the only one with star talent.

Fun drinking game: Every time a Saints Wide receiver catches a pass, and immediately (intentionally) falls to the turf or steps out of bounds, take a shot. You'll be drunk by the middle of the first drive, unless of course Brees throws an INT on the first pass.

I keed I keed

But seriously, our receivers aren't very physical and can't create consistent separation. Pair that with an O-Line that can't block, and you get games like yesterday and the one against Seattle.

ETA: Saints leading receivers as it pertains to receptions

1) Jimmy Graham (76)
2) Pierre Thomas (71)
3) Darren Sproles (66)
4) Marques Colston (64)
5) Lance Moore (30)

Your top 3 receivers are a tight end and two running backs. We always talk about how it would be stupid to draft more offensive weapons, but I'd be inclined to say we are in need of a #1, tough, physical receiver that can create separation on his own without having to be "thrown open".

Other thing I noticed yesterday was that on one of the red zone drives in the 4th, Brees appeared to zero in on Colston in the corner of the end zone looking for a jump ball type pass. Colston made no effort to jump. Wonder if his foot is still bothering him, or if that was a sign of the overall malaise that seems to have gripped the o yesterday.

I'm all for sending Mark Ingram and a draft pick and/or any other player to Cleveland for the rights to Josh Gordon! Geezus I would love to see him in our offense!!

This! And Drew isn't tall enough to drop back close to the line and throw.

Was that the one where it looked like he mis-timed his jump? Either way, this entire offense looks like they play scared away from home.

I'll just say it, they're soft. PT is probably the only real physical guy on our offense.

Because of Drew's height issue. 5 and 7 step drops are the norm on purpose to get him deeper in the pocket in order to make it easier to see over the line.

If we could run the ball I would not be worried at all. But we can't run block and are a one-dimensional offense, so defenses are quickly figuring us out on the road...for some reason at home, we're damn near unbeatable even though the defense knows we're throwing.

I use "we" like I'm on the team or something.
