I was at the Cap One bowl against them and Penn State and while the LSU fans were numerous and noisy we were outnumbered in both games by yankees that had much further to go. Of course both years were relatively 'down' years for us and the weather is obviously not a whole lot different here than in BR so I understand the northerners being more excited about making the trek down but c'mon Tigers! we need to represent!

No LSU fans are going. They are giving free tickets to the students

I hope they give away free tickets. Not like LSU needs to ticket revenue from this, but it would be awesome to do everything they can to get more LSU fans in that stadium.

No one wants to go to Tampa for New Years.

I'm not sure what bowl Iowa has been outnumbered in.

Iowa always travels really well. It kind of works against us at times you could say as we get bumped up in bowl selection occassionally.

Luckily we have had good success fpr the most part despite "playing up"

Sucks that the idea that "LSU doesnt travel, we take over" only applies to games we are excited about

I didn't understand at first either, but Iowa is known to travel well and thus will usually get put in a better bowl than they deserve and thus usually play a team that is ranked much higher than them.

For instance, this is the third straight Iowa bowl game where they are playing a top 20 team and Iowa us unranked.

Yes, both in the stands and on the scoreboard.

Which is why the current bowl system is crap. It will be hard for LSU to get up "mentally" for Iowa, but if they go with the attitude a getting a 10 win season to jump start next year that might help.

Need to do away with conference tie ins and have bowls go in a pecking order and have them choose which two teams they want.

To take this a step further. The NCAA should rank the bowls 1-35(whatever the number is) They should also rank the teams 1-70 (whatever 2x times the amount of bowls). Bowl pairing should then be 1vs2 3vs4 and so on....unless the pairings results in a re-match or same conference matchup, then the next highest team would move up.

Will never happen but it would guarantee the best matchup for every bowl.

this. Its seems we are the epitome of fair weather fans. We could be outnumbered 2:1. quite disappointing since our fans are supposed to be so rabid! We are an extremely fickle fan base, no doubt about. We get bored very easily apparently. If a bowl game is not for all the marbles or we are not excited about a home opponent we either leave early or don't show at all.

We are almost always going to be outnumbered by B1G teams in Florida bowls. They budget/plan these trips each year to get away from the cold and snow...the game is just an added benefit.

look ANYTIME the big 10 gets a game in South Florida they travel well bc its a vacation from the snow for that time of year anyways, that's why they will have more, they'll bring a good 30K
