It's legal for stores to sell alcohol after 6am, right? So.. just about anywhere.
Or is that every day but Sunday?

Thought all the blue laws were cleared in BR now?

I know bars can be open on Sunday now, but I'm not sure about the selling of alcohol from a store. I thought you could always buy alcohol from a store though.

Used to be after noon you could buy liquor/wine. Can't remember if beer was the same way.
Did a quick search, per the advocate last week...
Should be good to go

If there truly is separation of church and state, then why couldn't people enjoy booze on what is usually their day off? Seems like the most logical day to have a drink is when you're not working.

repealing the "Blue Laws" is asking for trouble. Pastor Raymond Johnson says, "Really, we're in the balance with our young people, giving them direction on how they should live. But yet, our leaders are saying it's okay to drink, even on a Sunday.

Does anyone know if it costs these establishments more to be able to open on Sundays? When this was in the works, I think I heard that bars have the option of opening on Sundays, but for a heftier price/fee/license, whatever it's called.

I think most bars won't make much money on Sundays because everyone is used to them being closed anyway. Also, since it is considered sabbath, a lot of people are getting up and going to church, not going to bars anyway. I don't see a whole ton of incentive for bars to be open Sunday until 2-3pm. I know the Bulldog in BR is open on Sunday now but I don't know the logistical hoops they had to jump through.
That being said, it makes 0 sense for stores that sell things other than alcohol to not be able to sell alcohol at those times. The store is open.. there's no good, logical reason to stop people from buying booze in the morning if that's what they so wish.
On a side note, I went into a Biloxi liquor store and after walking around the entire store, I had to ask the clerk where the beer was. He told me that it was illegal to sell beer in liquor stores. Probably one of the stupidest liquor laws ever.

Not sure, but I've never been denied the sale of alcohol in Lafayette. I don't know if there are restrictions in grocery stores, pretty sure if it's open you can buy alcohol there.
