What was the talk around Tyrann Mathieu when he was committed to LSU?

I know he wasn't really highly recruited but did people who followed recruiting know he was a game changing, special type of player?

Under the radar until he blew up at a Tenn camp. Everyone knew he was a stud after that.

Ended up being a 4 star

He blew up at Tenn camp summer before his senior year. In the playoffs against WM, he almost won the game by himself

Yes. Most people who follow recruiting were very happy and knew he would be special.

He was the only one who could slow down Jarvis Landry in camps at LSU and Tennessee.

When I watched him play against West Monroe whereupon he almost single handedly beat the Rebels...I think he scored 3 TDs (1 INT for return, 1 punt return, had 2 INTs, bunch of tackles...he was typical Tyrann) in a 27-21 loss I knew he was special.

Top 5 rated cover corner by rivals by the end of the cycle but flew under the radar until camp season

was thought of more as a cover guy than what he ended up being, but people knew he was talented as hell.

I'll go with what bluedog said. He almost single handedily beat a very good WM Rebel team. Thats when I first hoped that LSU was looking at him

Of course, with what happened last year and the subsequent consequences of what happened to the team, I wish his name never came up again on tigerdroppings. jmho.

You don't like him? I'm not saying your wrong bc I understand why and I used to feel that way too but I really think he has changed for the better

No, he did too much damage to the team last year with his dismissal and selfish acts. Prob would have beaten Alabama with him last year...jmho.

Honestly, nobody really knew what we were getting with TM.

He was great at St. Aug, but he was an undersized CB and nobody really knew how he would do at the next level.

He was 1 of the top guys in the state so obviously everyone wanted him and were glad we got him. At the same time, nobody really knew how he would do at LSU.

After his freshman season, everybody knew what we had:lol

His legacy at LSU and future in the NFL is much more beneficial than your opinion

he was actually their #1 rated cover CB when it was over. interestingly, David Jenkins was their #1 the next yr.

I might be a little bit biased, I've been watching him play since park ball and he was always the best on the field.

that's pretty selfish on your part. how about be appreciative for the years he did give to LSU.. especially one of the most exciting years of all time at LSU..

so he had a personal struggle in which almost any other school would not have even done anything about.. but yes he knew the rules and he broke them. he clearly needed help. he was never a bad guy tho. he has gotten that and continues to get that.. but at least he left LSU on great terms and is LSU through and through.. which also goes a long ways in recruiting St. Aug players knowing they could still have such a strong relationship.

I am proud to know Tyrann is all LSU and proud of him fighting his personal problems. If Tyrann had beaten women or was a thief I could get not wanting him associated with LSU.. but for this? Please.. He's a great person.

It's so funny how people are towards different people. If the dude was a musician or actor no big deal because it doesn't affect us. Dude doing it on the football team, "oh hell naw, this shite is fricked up, you fricked us out a championship!" Hate people like that and especially the older ones who did it, but talk against it like they haven't.

BTW, I don't smoke, but the way people act different towards others with the same issues, irks me.
