What are the warmest gloves that aren't so thick that they make it awkward pulling the trigger? I was looking at some then underarmor ones earlier that go almost midway up your arm and they were very comfortable, but I'm also skeptic on how warm they will be.

I need to get some new long johns and want to know what is the warmest? I'm leaving for Kentucky Sunday and want to make sure I'm warm.

Gander mountain has a pair like that that are the tits. Real thin liner with iPhone fingertips. And a zipper pocket for a hothands packet on the mitt part. Best rifle hunting glove out there

I never pull the trigger with a gloved finger. I can't feel shite and it makes me worry about too much shite. I use gloves that the fingers can be bent back on and you can sick your finger out of the love to shoot.

I hope I explained this decently, on my phone so no link. I have 2 pairs, a thick set and a thin set. No need for anything else.

Under armor gloves. Real tight and thin on fingers. Got some thin fuzz on inside too. Great for anything in LA

Add a chemical hand/toe warmer to the pop-top mittens mentioned by TT and your hands will be very warm without the bulk of heavily insulated gloves. Plus, you'll save a LOT of money compared to any UA gloves.

As far as the least expensive long johns, I'd suggest searching the 'net for military surplus wool long johns. The only drawback to wool for me is that I can't wear it next to my skin. I wear of a pair of running tights under the wool. I've found the running tights to be a great base layer. Running tights

I have a pair of Red Head gloves like these guys are talking about. Have the pocket on top of the hand for adding a warmer. They keep my hands warm except for those really cold mornings when I have to make a long four wheeler ride.

long johns

Buy some Terramar long wool underwear. Check the internet for deals. Typically 60-75 for each but I paid 65$ for top/bottom on campmor.com.

Have had them for 3 years and im just now starting to get a hole in the crotch. They have been used a lot too.

For the cold nothing is better than wool.

I'll let my fingers fall off with frostbite before I'll pull a trigger with a gloved finger.

I use either the fold-back mitten top or use no glove on my shooting hand (and stuff it into a pocket or hand warmer pouch).

ETA: as for long johns. You can just buy the cheap stuff from walmart. It works.

But, I use underarmour or my skiing equipment. No point in skimping on those for me. Dual purpose functionality justifies the upgrade.
