Would Saban or any respectable coach jump into this dumpster fire?

The media fiasco that has become of UT's coaching search has been messy. There appears to be a great amount of internal conflict and ambiguity in the direction of the program. There's almost a sense of panic in the execution of this "search".

Initially, Saban's silence indicated interest in the job, but this situation now feels more like a firecracker that's fuse has burnt. We wait for the explosion, but it appears to be a dud.

Or, what if all along the AD had a timeline in place, the media leaked the story, set their own timeline that didn't match the AD's and now everyone is thinking it's a disaster? All the while Bellmont is following the original timeline. I don't know that that's the case for sure, but it's a distinct possibility.

Welcome to 2013 and the age of social media. Any high profile job is going to get this way.

A very good point. They can't go two days without a significant leak from somewhere, or some egomaniac shooting off about Tejas $$$, and they don't seem to be able to present anything close to a unified front. I know everyone thinks UT is a great job, and maybe it is, but these distractions will definitely be an obstacle for the next coach.

Does the Board of Regents typically have a confidence vote for their school president in Texas? Is this a once in a year thing or was this a rare vote?

Do you think texas would push Mac brown out if they didnt have Saban lined up?

I wouldn't think so, I don't think they're interested in doing a coaching search a month before signing day

Confirmation bias could play into your POV.

But if your scenario were reality, the amount of disorganization, infighting, and general cluster-frickery would be enough to make a man with options walk away.

At this point, if Texas doesn't pull Saban, they will appear inept.

The real shake down maybe be going on at UT and the front money was just a "Low Ball" sucker play

"Bait and Switch" so to speak

Judging by what I've seen, I don't think that there is one "Texas". You have a multi-headed monster. Saban not signing the renewal indicates dissatisfaction with something. I don't know if it's location, direction, money, or what.....but, the longer this shitshow continues, the less appealing that job becomes. It gets more and more messy.

really people put two and two together a while back about Mack and about Saban. in a way the powers that be at UT and Saban should've known the frenzy wwould be coming after the regular season was finished and bowls announced.

All the next coach has to do is win and all will be forgiven! One thing Saban is good at is winning so he would be fine...

For 8 million dollars a year and my debt paid off, I'd jump into an actual fire.

the new AD has rubbed him the wrong way Upper this hold period waiting to sign is just his way of teaching Battle a lesson. Texas is such a shite show right now and itis funny to think Saban wants any oart of the rebuild EESPECIALLY at Texas where the regents good old boy system bit them in the arse with Mack. Saban isnt that stupid or greedy

nah, i don't think any respectable coach is going to get involved in this mythical fiasco that has been created by the media. I would guess that zero respectable coaches will even really talk about it with the media.
