I don't think Saban not signing it has anything to do with him recruiting. Saban has most likely asked Sexton to wait for the Mack Brown stuff to be resolved before he asks for Texas's offer. Then once they receive the offer they will know the market value and return to Battle to show what Texas is offering.

Then once making the counter offer Saban will sign it and this will all be over. Nick Saban will be on the sideline coaching at Alabama next fall.

This is most likely Saban's last contract ever and Sexton is going to try to get every penny he can out of Alabama before Saban re-signs.

He's waiting to sign the contract extension in front of Fournette, Tony Brown and all the other 5-stars visiting in order to wrap up their commitments and break the hearts of Swamptards yet again. Boss move of all boss moves.

How has no one seen this coming???

He was very quiet before announcing the Miami move as well.

No clue, but I will say that Saban is miffed with the way Bill Battle is handling things in the sports complex. He got used to the way Mal did things. Nick was Mal's greatest achievement and he protected it with his life every day. He was attentive. He was friendly. In all honesty, during Sabans time in Tuscaloosa with Mal they became VERY close friends. Mal knew what he had and he did whatever needed to keep him happy. Battle on the other hand had no connection to Nick and is a multi-million dollar CEO type business man. He is used to giving orders and them being carried out. End of story. He isnt used to having people "under" him that in reality, are actually OVER him. He hasnt been attentive. He hasnt been overly friendly, at least not to the extent of Mal. (not saying he isnt friendly, just saying they dont have the same relationship and Bill doesnt seem to be going out of his way to become close with Nick like Mal was), and from what I heard, the contract extension yall keep talking about was basically delivered to his office, dropped on his desk, and it was like "sign it".

That's very interesting. One thing he should realize is not to frick with Saban when he is holding this much leverage.

Regardless of what happens, I think it's funny that Bama fans think none of this is even possible. Keep your heads stuck in the sand.

Kap and Ground, not flaming, but how do ya'll feel about Robert Witt?

Do a search of SL Tiger's posts going back days now, of kids on same ball teams, and oil industry CEOs. And note their mention of Robert Witt and/or just search CC for Robert Witt..he makes strong and legit sounding posts.

Then also check out the post in ShaggyBevo about some young actress from Dallas w/Tweet about a friend of her mother's that is friends with the President of Bama(now Chancellor?)..

It appears CNS, like when at LSU and communicating through and answering to only Emmert, does much the same at Bama via Witt..a native Horn.

Witt is way too smart to risk this all coming back on him at Bama, unless he feels 100% convinced it's a done deal, and he will be riding that golden parachute with CNS to Austin, when the sequences fall into place?

Anything to it?

Big Witt fan here. He changed the entire dynamic of UA when he came here. I've been on probably 50 trips with him across the country during his time as Pres and he was absolutely committed to making UA one of the best institutions in the country. Under his watch, we started poaching Texas kids like wildfire.

Witt's incredibly smart - if Mackinlee_W is referring to him (he's Chancellor now, nor Pres) I'd seriously question her reliability. If she's actually referring to our current Pres Judy Bonner, then she's just flat bs'ing. Bonner is absolutely not the type to get involved in this. She will give control of the situation to Battle if needed, but I can guarantee you she's not talking about our football coach staying OR leaving to anyone.

Dr Witt + Mal Moore + Saban was a helluva trifecta. I feel blessed to have attended Bama while all 3 were employed. The things that Witt, Moore and Saban accomplished from '07-'12 will most likely never be replicated.

Negative - UA employee. Witt arrived shortly after I graduated.

A quick look at his contract extension history shows that the last two extensions/raises he's signed have been provided to him before their bowl game and he's signed them in March.

I don't know that I'd read anything into not signing his extension yet. We all know he won't sign if there's a buyout in it, so the extension is really irrelevant as it wouldn't keep him from Texas if that's where he wants to go.

No signed contract= extracting the maximum amount of compensation possible from AL- Saban is going no where

Texas needs to resign itself to another coach. ITs not the end of the world

Heck LSU and AUbbie have both been in that postion and won BCSNC with THEIR COACHES!

You do not have to have Saban to win a NC- This year a new coach will enter that elite circle

I didn't even know who Witt was when I posted that info. His name was mentioned several times in a text thread. Is it a stretch to think that Dr Witt might be talking to the UT side?

Why doesn't Bama just offer Saban the HC & AD job? He can then name his Asst. AD to handle everything outside of football.

Puh-leeze.

In this day and time of fax machines and e-mail, how long does it really take to put your John Hancock on a fricking contract?

Singing doesn't take long. Reading and familiarizing one's self with a coaching contract - which are usually 20+ pages - takes a little time...particularly when you are in Saban's position and this is likely the last coaching contract you'll ever sign (whether at Texas or at Bama).

FWIW - Bill Battle, on Tuesday night at the CFHOF dinner in NY, said that there is no contract sitting on Saban's desk. There are discussions taking place, but nothing sitting there waiting on Nick to run a pen across. /thread

Would it be a stretch had he retired after leaving the UA Pres job? No

Given his current position? It's absolutely a stretch. He's not going to compromise his position by leaking info
