Texass head coach has to cowtow to LHN. Coaching shows, interviews before, during, and after the game. LHN has unprecendented access to the Texass head coach, some access to sit in on coaches meetings, interviews about recruiting, etc.. etc.. etc... They have 24 hours to fill and football is the meat of the LHN. Mack Brown liked to play the TV role and be in the limelight in front of a microphone. Once the LHN launched he even commented on how much time his LHN responsibilities were taking up. He tried to be positive about it but it did seem he wasn’t overly happy about it. This is from a guy that LIKED the media. When it comes to TV and patience for reporters.… Mack is everything Saban is not.

Saban has exactly the wrong kind of personality to deal with the LHN. He simply could not avoid it now as it is PART of the job at Texass. No way he could give smart arse answers and be confrontational with interviewers. Head coaching responsibilities to LHN are spelled out in the ESPN contract. There is nothing he can do about it and cannot opt out of these responsibilities Whatever coach goes to Texass will have to shoulder that LHN burden.

For this reason alone I don’t think Saban really wants to take on that job. He would be miserable there. That grumpy MF hates the media and I don't blame him. Too big an obstacle for Texass and they can't do anything about it.

You think Nick has to play by the rules that have bound other coaches? Why?

Saban would be must see TV on TLN. Saban is exactly what TLN needs. They need a rock star of college coaches. They need a reason for providers to pickup TLN.

Saban would payoff in spades for TLN.

if the longhorn network is what is keeping Saban from going to Texas, then Texas will change the deal with the Longhorn Network. They will do whatever it takes.

The Aggie melt will be the one that I laugh at the most. Bama will always be Bama but A&M will get the door slammed in their face in their own state

Yes I'm sure he can't put a limit on that shite. Quit spewing things you hear as if it's your original idea.

LHN paying Texass $300M over 20 years. Not paying them that because they aired 2 football games this year. Not because of volleyball, golf, and baseball.

Contracts are contracts. LHN was created between Texass and ESPN with a certain amount of content agreed to, thus the $300M revenue. Mack and Deloss Dodds may have been the ones to agree to the content it but the new coach and new AD will be bound by it. No doubt about that.

Umm... not sure if you have done the math but...

Texass gets $15M per year from LHN. So, 1% of $15M is about $150,000. So, we aren't really talking about shite. LHN money is a flea on an elephants arse in the scheme of things.

It's 1% of LHN, not 1% of ESPN.

It is kind of funny that the Aggies are eerily silent on this subject.

eh...actually without the Media, Saban can not feed his process to the " organization" or his ego...

Right now he dictates when he speaks to the media other than after a game.

With LHN it will be dictated to him.

Probably the best post since this non-issue began. Saban uses the media to his advantage in recruiting and program exposure, but he does not have any interest in his boss being a powerless AD and president, a bunch of new money hyper-egotistical boosters, along with ESPN owning him through the LHN. Too many people to please at the same time.
