I've gotta serve around 100 people bourbon milk punch tomorrow.

2 oz bourbon whiskey
3 oz half-and-half
1 tsp superfine sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tspgrated nutmeg

This seems to be the basis. Instead of half and half, Im using Smith's Creamery whole milk and buffalo trace. Estimation put me at about 2 1/2 gallons of milk and 3 handles of Buffalo trace, which doesn't seem right.

Wanted to serve out of a punch bowl. Directions say to shake to froth up. Any tips?

Brandy milk punch > bourbon milk punch

1/3 brandy
1/3 milk
1/3 half and half
2 tablespoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons nutmeg

Serve over ice.

Trust me here, fellow Cenla person.

I love em.

I moisten some sugar in a coffee cup and nuke it till it dissolves. Put in a cup over ice. Big slug of charter, some milk or heavy cream or 1/2n1/2, good vanilla extract, mix cup to cup about 5 times, top with cinnamon or nutmeg. Think I'll make one.

If it's 2oz bourbon and 3 oz milk, it should be 2 gallons bourbon and 3 gallons milk.

That's going to make a shitload of punch

This is probably going to cause me to lose a lot of skreet cred around here, but a decent milk punch is to let a gallon of vanilla ice cream soften, add one fifth of bourbon or brandy, and grate some nutmeg over the top.

Put in punch bowl and watch people go to town.

As an aside, I doubt all hundred people will drink the punch so just do 2 gallons.

I have some other bad arse punch recipes if you want them.

I could see the ice cream working for a big batch. I don't know what Bourbon House does but their "frozen" variety is great.

You have a good punch for this time of year? I'll take it.

holy chit. Not sure how that happened. Just when I figured out my photobucket deal they changed it up. That'd be my duck hunt last Saturday. This is my milk punch.

Mmmm, Mexican vanilla.

I'm so glad you screwed up. I stared at it for a while trying to figure out the joke.

Made this a few weeks ago. And credit really belongs to the group behind Cure, etc... Who gave me the general framework.

Take the peels off of 4 lemons. Put in to the punch bowl with 1 cup sugar. Muddle things together and let it sit, covered, for about 3 hours. Aftet 3 hours, or longer (this makes your house smell awesome), slice some ginger, a few pods of star anise, a stick of cinnamon, a few cloves, and some allspice. Have a vanilla pod? Use it. Throw that in a hot sauce pan and toast. Then add in 2 cups of Martinelli's apple juice. Bring to a simmer. Pour over the lemon and sugar mix (called an oleosachrum). Add in two cups of cold water.

Dump in a fifth of your favorite brown liquor. Rum or Bourbon work best.

ETA really the longer you let that lemon peel and sugar mixture sit, the better it becomes.

The ice cream version sounds the best.

I've never had a milk punch before, so I just made one.

1 shot bourbon
1/3 cup of milk (lowfat)
dash of vanilla extract
1 tsp of sugar
1/8 tsp of cinnamon

Now, I'm usually one that prefers to drink bourbon neat, but I thought this one was kind of gross. It was dry almost chalky in my mouth. I felt like I was drinking milk with a bitter aftertaste.

I posted my ice cream version a few weeks ago. So darn delicious, but I don't know if I'd let it sit in a punch bowl. I give it a good shake or stir if it sits for a few minutes.

1/2 gallon of Bluebell homemade vanilla ice cream or the homemade vanilla brand of your choice
1 cup bourbon of your choice (you can substitute brandy, if you like)
1/2 cup amaretto
grated nutmeg

Allow the ice cream to melt. Use a funnel to transfer it to a gallon plastic container. Add the bourbon and the amaretto. Shake and refrigerate or freeze and defrost, if you want to make it ahead. Serve over ice and sprinkle a wee bit of nutmeg on top.

NOTE: I think it could use a bit more bourbon and I add just a little creme de cocao to it, simply because I like it. It was darn good, as is, though.

Sounds delicious!

ETA: if you use melted ice cream, couldn't you just pick up some egg nog? They're practically the same thing, right?

Not same as commercial "eggnog" at all. We make Bluebell recipe as well only sub vanilla for amaretto. Really easy and really good!
