How bad is this? I haven't noticed any suspicious activity and the bank seemed to indicate that it will be fine especially since they are sending a new card with a new number on it (2 weeks). Should I go ahead and cancel the one I have or use it until the new one comes in? Also, how does a bank determine your card is compromised? TIA

Basically a list of cardholder information was lost or stolen and therefore, to protect every one, they just go ahead and issue new cards. I wouldn't freak out and just monitor your credit.

The obvious solution is to immediately buy lots of stuff from overseas.

My card # has been stolen and used multiple times. Chase caught it every time on their own and removed the charges.

I believe often times these kind of notices are ploys by credit card companies to sell fraud protection to card holders. Truth is they are by law required to refund fraudulant charges on your account.

Thanks for the info everyone. I cancelled it today just to be safe. Gonna run my credit reports after the first of the year to make sure nothing else is wrong.
