Regardless of where Saban ends up, this ordeal will be great for the pocket books of coaches everywhere. If Saban gets 10 or so million from Texas/Alabama, where will the rest of the top college coaches settle when they renegotiate contracts in the next few years?

2013 Salaries for reference:
1. Nick Saban Alabama $5,545,852
2. Mack Brown Texas $5,453,750
3. Bret Bielema Arkansas $5,158,863
4. Butch Jones Tennessee $4,860,000
5. Bob Stoops Oklahoma $4,773,167
6. Urban Meyer Ohio State $4,608,000
7. Les Miles LSU $4,459,363
8. Brady Hoke Michigan $4,154,000
9. Kirk Ferentz Iowa $3,985,000
10. Charlie Strong Louisville $3,738,500

You hope not.

I hope so.

I don't go to the games, so insane ticket prices don't bother me.

I guarantee NFL owners do not want that large of a college contract to happen.

No one will surpass Saban. He is head and shoulders above the rest.

They don't. I think he gets around $3 mil. The rest is his buyout. In a way they agreed to pay him that, but he isn't reaping the benefit of that amount.

Doesn't Miles contract have some sort of clause about that if he wins another NC.

While that amount isn't being deposited into his account, he's very much reaping the benefit as he'd personally owe it otherwise.

Sabans contract will have a lot of unofficial financing linked to it.

No matter what Saban decides, his new contract will push the college football coach's salary median way up. It's a game changer.

A couple of million of that was what Walton had in his pocket. Sorry for being rich.

Money to burn
