i.e. how long he thinks he wants to coach. If he thinks he has 5-7 years left in him, he goes to UT. If he thinks he only has 2-3, he stays at Bama. The money is secondary to his endurance.

The decision is already made. I think we can all agree on that.

If he stays at Bama, he will have a pretty bad year next year. Starting a complete noob at QB will lead to Saban having a meltdown for not going to Texas

I am not so sure. Although I do think he leaves for UT, I also think he may be struggling with the decision a bit.

Nah, it's going to be the cash.

The good news for Alabama is that they're actually in the driver's seat for that one. They just have to be in the general ballpark. Texas is the one that has to blow any other offer out of the water.

That's what we say every season they start a new QB. The last time a new QB started for them they won a NC. Also, there is a shite ton of turnover at the QB position inside the SEC next season. A lot of teams will be making adjustments.

I don't believe that but I do believe that he probably "wants" to stay at Alabama so he's giving them every opportunity to win.

The man is in debt. Money is the number one factor.

I am not sure about that, but if you are correct and a decision HAS been made then I think Saban is definitely leaving.

To me 10 Mil/year and winning a championship at 3 different schools is to much to pass up.

His name alone puts UT in the top 10 next year if he makes the jump. Playing in that conference makes it easy for him to go undefeated. The entire Big 12 wants this to happen to bring back the luster.

The bad news is that Texas is way richer than Alabama.

The backups have all stunk it up this year, though.

THis:

I also think he may be struggling with the decision a bit.

PLACEBEAUX: Why is he in debt? I have heard this before from some guys in Birmingham about some bad real estate deals that was a minor partner in.

This^
You don't get a McCarron every 3-4 years. JPW was terrible in retrospect. McElroy had an outstanding defense that helped him in games, and was one field goal block away from no title. I don't know who the guy behind McCarron is, but I see a 3+ loss season for Bama next year

Yeah but it's not like they're going to pay Saban fifty million a year. They're not emptying the endowment for him.

If they offer ten million and Alabama comes back with 8.5, Alabama probably keeps him.
