No rumors here -

Just wondering why no one has even put forth this as a possibility.

It checks off everything that people say Saban is after:

Historical as the GOAT - Check
New Challenge - Check
Fans Showing Up For Every Game - Check
More Money - Check
More Attention - Check

He's never going back to the NFL....when will people realize this? He came back after 2 seasons and says he regretted leaving...NFL is obviously not for him.

25% of all NFL head coaches make more than $6 million.

Back then it wasn't for him.

But now people keep saying Saban's bored and wants a new challenge.

Would Texas really be a challenge? It's easier to recruit to Texas. It's an easier schedule. Easier rivals. Easier conference.

There's nothing new about the challenge at Texas besides completing it.

If the rumors are true that Saban wants a new challenge somewhere that will appreciate him more, then the only option is the NFL.

He can't control NFL players like in college and can't "out talent" other teams via recruiting.

He cant have the same level of control over a team of NFL players as he has over a team of college kids.

Sexton did talk to Dallas about possibilities and what the number might look like. However, the problem is - Saban just isn't a hot prospect to return to the NFL, as he is to "lateral" to a big program.

While he is a turnaround guy, his techniques aren't proven in an NFL concept where the draft, free agency and the salary cap prevent a team from getting too far ahead - at least for very long. Yes there are still NFL dynasties, but they are typically built on the draft. Plus, when your top 10 or 12 players make more money than the head coach, it is tougher to run the kind of program that Saban runs in college. When you tell the people in the building to not talk to the head coach, or even make eye contact if he's not talking to you, NFL players and personnel say, "F*ck you AND that short, WV motherf*cker."

So, it's Texas or bust at this point.

It was always said that after he left the dolphins that NFL people said he would never be given another chance because of the way he left.

He's already turned down Tampa while at Alabama, he's not interested in the NFL.

I know the Texans have said they want an established NFL head coach. This could be construed to say that Kiffin, Petrino, Spuerrier, Shiano, and Saban would not be welcome. However, with the changes in NFL offenses and the success of Pete Carroll and Harbuagh, I see no reason not to give the best of that bunch I mentioned another shot.
