Was headed home today, and the road takes me back past my old hunting club. On the side of the road, was a deer carcass, head cut off and the cape skinned off below the shoulders. Left the rest to rot, not 3 feet off the roadside. People like that are the biggest low lifes and trash.

The club land is on both sides of the roadway, there's been issues of poachers before, when I was a member there.

I HATE IT whenever I see a killed White Rhino on the side of the road with its horn missing.

is it poaching or just someone that hit a buck on the side of the road and knew the meat wouldn't be very good

If a car could have made a puncture wound that resembled a bullet hole, maybe. I was in that club for 10 yrs, and we had problems with poachers in the past. They just picked up 1300 acres from a club that dissolved as well and not all their folks were taken.

Did you stop and investigate or is this another trash bag story? and where are you talking abouts?

Whatever the circumstances, I hate trash that leaves carcasses on the side of the road. Even if you hit it and just want the horns, drag that shite down in to the woods. Gives hunters a bad rep.

I stopped to look. In Clay. NE Jefferson County, the hunting land starts there and runs into St. Clair County into Springville.

I've seen a floating deer in the middle of the Alabama river in the summer and I thought "poachers"

I've seen deer on the side of the road and thought that too, and seen some that you knew were hit by a vehicle. This is the only one I have ever stopped to look at, for two reasons:

1. It's less than 2 miles from my house.
2. I know the majority of people in that club and have since kindergarden, and I know they wouldn't have left a deer like that. I wanted to be sure of the circumstance, so I could let them know they need to keep an eye out.

Had someone do something similar on our club. Cut the head off took back hams, tenderloins and left the rest in one of our parking areas.

Got checked by green jeans yesterday and he said they just caught 4 that have been night hunting.

Used to know the warden here in JeffCo. He'd set up a mechanical deer and bust folks between Mtn Brook and Hoover and 280 off 119 and Grants Mill. Busted Dr's and all kinds of professionals. Said he busted one Dr one night, who fired about 20 rounds from a .22 rifle, before he realized what was happening. Does my heart good to see idiots like that face the consequences.

I am familiar with the mechanical deer stories and wish they would use it in southwest Jefferson County. I once lived off of Grants mill Road and worked on hwy 280 as well! The central Alabama area has much to offer the outdoorsman!

Uhh... road trophy hunting poachers?

LOL not likely man. That was a road kill that somebody took the head on because it was probably already rotten when they found it. Taking the cape was wishful thinking but hey...

You'd be surprised. There used to be a lot of them around the beanfields in Arkansas until the AGFC started using dummy deer.
