No I was just curious about different price levels as it gets closer. Do they do that? And where can you buy them?

I looked on their site and ticketmaster. Am I blind?

it took us 30 minutes to walk about 100 yards on the far side of the track when fleetwood started. we ended up hopping out and going on the outside of the fence and watching from right outside the track. wasn't too bad, really. but it was crazy.

maybe it isn't for sale yet. I know it stays the same price. the VIP stuff sells out, but it's always the same price. general admission rises like $5 after a few weeks of sale (they just started do this last year) and it's a good bit more expensive if you buy out there.

if you're buying a good number of tickets, it's much cheaper to try to buy from a ticket master retailer (as in not online), since those don't tack on as much charges as online.

I think they have 2 different price levels. The cheaper one lasts until a month before the Fest, I think.

Can you buy weekend passes or is it just single?

And are the weekend passes interchangeable?

A Jazz Fest ticket is good for any day. There is no re-entry.

WWOZ offers re-entry with the Brass Pass, and each different level of VIP offers re-entry as well.

I usually only go to 1 or 2 days at the Fairgrounds and instead focus on late-night shows. I will probably go to the actual Fest more this year since my new place is a 5 minute bike ride away

you can buy single day or weekend.

i don't believe the weekend passes are interchangeable. you have to buy for each weekend.

So far we think McCartney is a go, Neville Brothers? Maybe Clapton?

What other old groups are touring right now?

Anymore String Cheese rumors?

Probably. I like to support WWOZ.

I wish there was some equivalent for late night shows, although I realize it is virtually impossible with all of the different venues. People always bitch about the cost of a day at the Fairgrounds with the rising ticket prices and beer (no one really complains about the food price ) but shite late night gigs are where I drop a bunch of cash. Ticket price (often more than one in a night)+alcohol+misc party favors+cab rides (again often multiple) adds up quick.

The best part about last year was Fiya Fest. Such a great time. Dr. Klaw, GABE (Porter Jr, Osborne, Iuso, Boilivar) , Dragon Smoke, Karl Denson, the New Orleans Suspects, Bonerama, and more plus unlimited free alcohol and food all for only $80. That was one of the best days EVER. Can't wait.

In-progress review of Jam Cruise 2014, which is currently at sea

quote:

Next, Anders Osborne and his band—bassist Carl Dufrene and drummer Eric Bolivar—came out for what ended up being one the day’s most exciting performances. The trio were joined, for the duration of the show, by Ivan Neville and guitarist Peter Stelling, who helped kick off the set with “Windows” and “Five Bullets” (Stelling is the husband of Jam Cruise’s Annabel Lukins Stelling.) Mike Dillon then sat in on percussion for “I Shot The Sheriff” before fellow New Orleanians Billy Iuso, Stanton Moore and George Porter Jr. came out for “All Along the Watchtower.” In what is bound to be one of the week’s highlights, Osborne and Friends were then joined by Cyril Neville for “Fire on the Mountain” as the ship sailed past Cuba with the sun setting over the mountains along the island’s coast. Most of the guest exited before pedal steel guitarist Roosevelt Collier showed to help close out the set.

quote:

Unfortunately Pork Tornado—and Phish—member Jon Fishman got sick after New Year’s Eve was unable to make it to the boat, leaving the group without a drummer. Galactic’s Stanton Moore filled in for the absentee Fishman as the band kept things interesting with a grooving set.

NOLA reppin' hard on Jam Cruise as always
