Fwiw, I sent a tweet to The Times Picayune's, Keith Spera, who covers Jazz Fest. I asked him if the Samsung deal was the major announcement and he responded back and said he suspects it was something else that didn't come together in time.

I can't think of ever seeing phish when they had a great guest or any guest for that matter.
maybe that Nashville show long ago with Del McCoury was pretty good (I think it got rained out towards the end...a bit fuzzy). I can't remember anymore shows I've seen with guests.
Toussaint doing Sneakin would be beyond cool.
