My SO hasn't been here before, we have today for lunch before she heads back to Orlando. I forgot Dooky Chase's & Casamento's were closed on Mondays as well as Central Grocery

We are at Downtown Holiday Inn on Loyola..........Any recs for a great lunch place? Type of cuisine is open & we are mobile. Had lunch at Cochon on Wednesday and po-boys at Johnny's yesterday.

TIA

TIA

I know it is very touristy, but maybe try mothers? ...... Considering she has never been to New Orleans. That way when she gets asked where she went she will have a good answer for her touristy girlfriends

Go to Commanders, if you can get in! Their lunch specials are really good.

No where in his post did he mention inexpensive.

Also, Commander's is inexpensive for lunch.

You mentioned Mother's, one of the worst tourist shitholes in this city. Don't talk.

Thanks Fun Bunch....I mentioned Dooky's and Casamento since she appreciates both of those types of food & I like them....Not overly concerned with $$ as long as the food quality and experience warrants the price.

Galatoires or Commanders?

Commanders over Galatoires, although Galatoire's is certainly cool for some people. Commander's is a lot better food wise.

Commander's has good lunch specials, as does August, if you can get in.

You could also do Coquette, which has a 3 course 20ish dollar lunch.

If they never ate in the city before, Commander's is the best choice. It's classic New Orleans and its a world famous restaurant.

I had lunch at Commanders a while back and my bill was 18.75

Their lunch menu and drink specials are fantastic.

I had the Osso Bucco three course lunch with 2 25 cent martini's....Epic lunch
