I was pretty excited to check this place out after seeing they had a few New Orleans locations. I was not impressed, maybe I should just blame my bad experience on it being newly opened?

Anyways. Order two sandwiches at 11:14. I got the Monteleone with roast chicken. He got the Prima.

There was one other couple in the restaurant, who ordered after us at the counter. So we grab our Diet Cokes (casty, I know) and sit down to wait for lunch. We talk about the cool jar they have full of strawberry mint water and how the two types of gelato we tried were tasty (bourbon pecan and biscotti). So about 10 minutes later the manager finally walks over with ice for our drinks. His was fine, mine had a big stream of soup down the side, not suds actual dish soap. Ok, whatever, I will just drink mine out of the bottle. Around the same time the cashier brings waters to the other couple in there a few minutes after they sit. Well I see her just fill the glasses from the sink next to the coffee station. I have zero problems with tap water, but restaurants should not fill water from a tap over a sink filled with dirty coffee cups!

Moving on. We just ordered sandwiches so I am thinking 10 minutes max since they were extremely slow. Well come 11:36 and our food comes.

Are you kidding me. My sandwich is supposed to have roast chicken, marinera and mozzarella. FTR, I picked nothing off this. Its how it was served. I took one bite and was done. The Prima came out with more meat and actually had cheese but was burnt to a crisp as well. I just expected more. The meal was $28.

More negatives...
-As we sat and waited the manager spent about 5 minutes making a fancy coffee for himself instead of helping his super overwhelmed, backed up kitchen. Also threw all the dishes he used in the sink where they fill water glasses.
-Someone came in and ordered gelato to go. They don't have fricking lids. They put a piece of tin foil over top and sent her along her way. I understand running out. But you're new. Have stock.
-The workers were busy sweeping the kitchen while preparing our food. Sanitary.
-Manager blamed our burnt samdwiches and long order time on the fact that the employees were busy putting up groceries
-Visabily could see employees playing on cell phones in the kitchen

Positives...
-The truffle oil mac and cheese was delicious
-The two gelatos we tried were good and they had many intersting flavors
-The manager was somewhat nice. When I asked for a box he said oh, that looks burned was it ok? I said yea, it is fine. I don't want to be mean and am not one to complain normally. So he checks out the fiance's sandwich and notices his is burnt as well. He insists on giving us our money back for the sandwiches even though I said he does not have to. So we wait as he goes to chat with people, dink around with the coffee machine, etc. After 10 or so minutes I just decide to leave. Well then he is like wait your money so I walk back up and he refunds the drinks. Then notices his error and say I hope yall arent in a rush. So this whole refund process takes a few minutes, several swipes of debit card, while there is a line waiting for the noon lunch rush. *even though this is mainly negative I put it as a positive because he was trying to be nice.

So long rant, New Orleans people is it like this there? I want to just blame this on them being newly opened, but that was a very nevative impression. Especially from me, who worked in the service industry for 8 or so years, so I think I tend to be lenient because I understand.

Haven't tried it yet, but a coworker hated their orange cinnamon roll something or other. She threw it away after a bite. I didn't try it and will not let that stop me from going in there myself.

Damn. Terrible experience.

I've only gotten gelato at the one here and it was fine. Very good service.

you're bringing some of that on yourself by not saying "frick yes my food was burnt", ESPECIALLY when the manager noticed and asked you point blank.

Service is fine in N.O. In fact, because of the set up, I'm not sure how it could be bad unless you had dumbass know nothing working there. But I'm not sure of how they're serving in BR.

As far as the food is concerned, it's fine for a quick panini.

However, the real reason to go is the gelato. It's made from fresh, high quality ingredients and stands out from other places.

bullshite. She brought the burnt food on herself? It never should have been served in the first place.

Forgot to mention the manager questioning our sides. Saying not to order one because it was controversial.

I frequent the Loyola campus location, and they're sloooowww as well. Food is quality, but the employees have absolutely NO hustle.

As the owner/manger who waited on, served and refunded this Monteleone to the customer, I sincerely apologize again for this isolated incident. I will not make any excuses, as it should have never happened. I stand behind my staff and I am personally committed to seeing that it never happens again.
I would hope that you would come back and allow us to provide you the proper service and meal that everyone can expect when dinning at La Divina. (HoustonChick86) Ask for me, and I will be happy to buy you a panini to your satisfaction. As for a controversial menu item being not recommended. I believe I recommend to anyone, that if you do like Truffles then we can prepare our much desired and praised "Truffled Mac and Cheese" without the Truffle Oil at the customers request.
Lastly, while we do offer bottled soft drinks, juices, teas and waters for sale, We provide as a courtesy, filtered tap water to our customers however, dirty dishes are never kept or washed washed at that location.

My better half stopped at the BR La Divina on Sunday afternoon for a coffee...he likes the house roast (it's an Orleans Coffee custom blend). He waited awhile, there was no line movement and only one single employee who was shuffling along. No greeting, noone taking orders, no "ill get right to you". He left without coffee. Seriously, someone needs to get 'em organized. You can't run a specialty coffee/cafe/gelateria with one single front of the house employee (unless said person has some hustle and can multitask). Even a greeting might have convinced him to wait a bit longer...

I was unfamiliar with this place, but it sounds similar to a Latte e Miele place.. and it sounds like I should continue my patronage at Latte e Miele.

what an a-hole response. if the manager comes up and says oh looks like your sandwich is burnt(from that pic it looked like charcoal), you dont need to say yea it is. he already noticed because its obvious

from the description of what was going on in there with the workers not giving a shite along with you and the coffee machine, i doubt this is an isolated incident.

doesnt seem to be the case.

Nice of you to sign up here and offer HC86 another visit to right the wrong, but judging from some of the things in your response and how you acted when she was there, you seem to care about as much as your employees and are just doing the textbook "come in for a free meal so we can save face"

I'm a huge fan of La Divina on Magazine but I've only been there for espresso or gelato. Top notch ingredients in the gelato go a long way especially when compared to the competition a few doors down. I'm sorry to hear that the lunch options aren't up to par.
