Marc Stein on Twitter. Saw on the MSB and thought it deserved a thread here.

Well, lots of people here seem to think we should get rid of Ryno.

Interesting

Reason Dec. 19 is significant is because anyone Rockets get would be eligible to be re-packaged in new deal on trade-deadline day (Feb. 20)

I dont think ASIK for Ryno would be an upgrade for us. Im not sold on the way Ryno is used, but thats just me. I mean the Rockets have Parsons already who is more athletic..why would they want to add an unathletic version of Parsons?

I posted this in MSB

Rockets : Asik + Parsons
Pellies : Anderson + Aminu + Rivers (though I'd much prefer Roberts get shipped out, I'm being realistic)

Only way I see it happening.

I think if we're involved at all it'd be part of a multiteam trade involving Gordon. Matt Moore from CBS floated a trade idea yesterday of

I would be all for getting Granger and losing Gordon....I dont think HOU needs Granger tho...Pelicans could use him

Gordon + Withey getting us back those 2 would make me cry and question Dell's sanity.

Yeah, that's definitely a flawed trade by Moore, seems to benefit the Pelicans more than anyone and we'd be the facilitator in the deal. But I don't think the Rockets and Pels would be able to come to an agreement on a deal involving Asik and Anderson. It's just hard to give both teams a win when those 2 are involved.

It's not just Gordon and Withey for Asik and Motiejunas though. You get cap space. They make Smith expendable. A new SF makes Aminu expendable. If you don't bring Smith and Aminu back you have at least $10 million in cap space next season to go after a SF, maybe $12 if the cap goes up any.

Gordon + Withey + MLE to use on either a SF or C when you need both, or Asik + Motiejunas with $10 - $12 million to use on a SF and backup SG?

Agreed. It's hard to see Houston wanting any part of that deal.

I can't remember the story with Asik's contract next season. Something like $14 mil but only $8 towards cap?

$10-$12 would be nice. Could chase Granger for cheap this summer.

Yes, the team actually pays him $14.5 million next year but he only counts $8.3 million towards the cap. This year it's $5.5 million real dollars with the $8.3 cap figure.

Does this apply to players only or players and draft picks?

All, they are not trading parsons and we are not trading anderson. We have no shot here.
