The last few trips I've made to Calandros I've spent a good bit of time checking out the Christmas/Winter beer selection but have no idea what I'm looking at. A lot of them look interesting, but they are generally expensive and I don't want to end up with a bunch of nasty beer if I can avoid it.

Anyone here have any of these beers that they recommend? It could be specifically what is at Calandro's, or just the style of beer in general.

Anchor and st Arnold's are both good this year, Abitas is always pretty good.

I thought the shiner one was awful this year, to much peach flavor

I've had Mikkeller Santa's Little Helper. Very good. Zealot had the other on and was raving about it. The one with the reindeer on it. Can't remember that one's name.

And Anchor's is solid. Real solid.

Always a fan of sierra's celebration ale. It's a hoppy ale, so not a traditional cinimmon, clove, etc. winter ale, but very good.

I had the Abita on tap tonight and it was pretty good but I didn't enjoy it as much as the St. Arnold's or the Sam Adams Winter Lager.

No doubt. Celebration is more of a fresh hop IPA. I don't care for all the Christmas spiced ales out there.
