The leader of the Wake Forest University athletic department is in Muncie today, presumably to interview Ball State football coach Pete Lembo for the Demon Deacons’ coaching vacancy.

The Star Press learned today that Wake Forest notified the Delaware County Airport on Wednesday that AD Ron Wellman was flying to Muncie on a private aircraft. He arrived at 9:15 p.m. and a car was delivered to him from Enterprise Rent A Car.

Sources who provided that information asked for anonymity because they weren’t authorized to divulge the details.

Lembo did not respond to a text message today seeking an interview.

What's not said speaks louder than words. Pete Lembo could halt all speculation on his status by simply saying "I'm staying". He hasn't.


Would be a good hire for us, I think. Won at least 9 games at Lehigh, Elon, and Ball State and knows the area due to his time at Elon. Not a "sexy" hire, but a solid one for a school like Wake if we can seal the deal.
