I was thinking about this this morning - since this year's bowl game is pretty much an exhibition game without our starting QB, why not give Jennings, Rivers, Rettig, and Bolden each a quarter, just to see what each of them can do?

One would lose a redshirt.

If AJ struggles or gets hurt we will see rivers.

In any bowl game, you want to win because it sets the tone for things to come. 1st you want to find the hot hand and use it to get a comfortable lead. 2nd you want to get as much experience in with backups as you can for future development. 3rd have as much fun as possilbe, and get ready for spring practice. Hopefully the core guys will want to develop work ethics like Mett, OBJ & JL did last off season....

I forgot about Rettig's RS - I agree it's not worth it.

I would like to see Rivers play though...

Wow! What a brilliant idea. Now I understand why you have all of those championship trophies scattered about your house.

sort of like every bowl game LSU has ever played in sans 4 (eta: or i guess whatever old bowls that we lost where a win would've meant NC--i suck at history; '59 Sugar loss to OM?)?

Actually, it would be 3.

In '58, they were crowned national champs BEFORE the sugar bowl.

I don't buy the exhibition game line, though. It's more just like a one game season. Playing for the bowl, is playing for the bowl.

Oh I definitely want to win the game - if Mett were healthy I'd want him playing the whole game.

But what's better to kick off a QB battle than a game against a live opponent?
