I no longer buy my father things. He gets experiences.

Fishing trips, hunting trips, weekend of working with him on a project.

There is just not enough time in our lives to worry about the material things. Focus on the connection.

Africkingmen.
If I could I would have given my dad more years. Spend time now and often. That is the best gift my son could give me. Just spent a week elk huntin and those are THE best gifts.

The best gift my children have ever given me was a bottle of Kentucky Deluxe. Unfortunately I may have enjoyed it a little too much that night... but it was thoughtful nevertheless.

This.

I wish I had mine around still. Every golf game we played, every fishing trip we took, the one time we went hunting...all mean more than life itself now. The projects we built...no matter how much of a perfectionist he was.

I sure miss that Ole SOB.

I agree with this, but it's nice to give back now that I can. My brother and I bought him a spotting scope knowing we will probably get more use out of it than him, but we also know he will appreciate the gesture.

Got mine an Orion Cooker this year. He just buys everything he wants anyway, so gotta find things he hasn't thought about needing.

I order my dad some omaha steaks usually. Like most people, he's impossible to buy for.

We always bought him gift cards BC he was going to return most of what we got him and get a gift card anyway. We cut out the middle man. He would get quite a bit of money on those cards and go play at Academy or Shooters Supply. I have to agree on the experiences though. I think he, and we, enjoyed those more than any gift card. I miss him every second of the day and wish we could have had just one more experience.
