Just used this feature last night with my klipsch s4 headphones with microphone I use to workout and it's just an awesome feature. Why the hell didn't Xbox do this? Reminds me of the roku 3, you can plug in any headset and hear the audio from whatever your watching. Crazy that the chat also worked in game as well

Really awesome.

Used my Senheiser HD280 Pros on it. It sounds fantastic, especially BF4.

I'm not sure I understand.

I can say "Xbox Volume up/down"
Is this what you mean?

No, you can plug in any set of headphones with a normal size audio jack.

In other words, I can use my studio quality headphones why playing. If they come with a mic, that will work too.

Sounds pretty cool.

I never use headphones though, so that doesn't help me.

nice feature.

I don't own any high quality headphones at the moment so it's a non issue, but I can definitely see the utility.

It's an awesome feature. When the kids are sleeping and my wife is playing on her iPad next to me, I plug in my nice Bose noise cancelling headphones. No one is disturbed and I'm totally immersed.

I am disappointed the XBO doesn't have that. Of course, I also wish the DS4 had the rumble triggers so there are pros and cons.

I haven't used them myself but have heard good things about them on a couple of podcasts. Examples: You can feel more detailed road vibrations in Forza than a traditional rumble and you can "feel" which hand you are holding the ball with in NBA2K14.

I'm not big on racing on sports games, but it sounds like the triggers could be used for some cool effects in other future games. I like any feature that enables developers to do something new and interesting.

The ps4 does have the touchpad though. Pretty cool usage of it I killzone IMO

Here's my question.. with gaming headsets like the astro a40s which have stereo cables but run into a decoder box.. will there be a huge loss in sound quality by skipping the decoder box? Will i still have my surround sound and be able to tell where the enemy is coming from?

Thank god for this. It enables those of us with Sony Pulse Elite headsets to use them, you just plug it in with the cable the came with them.

You don't get the virtual 7.1 SS, or the preset EQ's for specific games, but that's coming early January in the patch to support all the Sony headsets on PS4.

But not having the ability to do it at all is somehow better? Da fuq? I'm guessing your bashing the ps4's audio processing through its headset?

I'm going to take a guess and say coyote is referring to PC.
