Why would the commitment of Clifton make way for the recruitment of Young? Would we not want Young if we didn't get Clifton? I am not following the thought process there.

Yeah because we can't recruit 2 players at the same time.

You don't recruit another kid at the same position when you have told the big fish he is your priority. Once he commits, you can go after Young and call it depth at the position.

I think that's way too transparent to actually work as a legit angle. But imagining it does work with the "big fish", Young would have to be okay with being "depth".

Which is exactly why people think he is an A&M lean, because he is confident in himself. Not really my concern if you believe it works or not, it happens quite often and appears to be the case here.

Or so you believe...

To me, it makes a lot more sense that Young is being slow played because they want to spend the scholarships on other positions. Young is a fall back if the staff misses on the higher priority guys at those positions.

This is what it seems like to me also FWIW.

I thought Clifton was the ILB and Young the OLB prospect?

After re watching his tape again for a fourth time, I don't see why they are slow playing this guy. Looks like a bigger, faster, Spencer Ware who can actually cut and juke. He looks like he's a tad slower than Hill but still in the 4.5 range. Faster and stronger than Hilliard so what's the deal here?

Texas is about to move on Darrell Williams, FWIW. Their current RB commit in the 2014 class, Kevin Shorter, had a potentially career ending injury.

They are. 24/7 has Garrett as an OLB, and Young as an ILB. Rivals has Garrett as an ILB, and Young as an OLB.

Rivals actually has it correct for once haha. If youve seen Garrett play or his film, you can tell hes the definition of a true MLB.

And if you have seen Young play or his film, you can tell hes a natural OLB. Great size, speed, and is a great tackler. But hes a natural at OLB. Very smooth running and long strides.

We want both, and we will take both. PERIOD.

And its not us slow playing Young, I think its the complete opposite. We are giving him the same attention as we do everyone else. Hes just very quiet on the recruiting front. Young is taking his time and waiting to see who goes where, before he makes his mind up.
