Anyone here use a red dot sight for the Marlin 336? I've got this 30-30 for hunting piggies in the brush and wanted to see if there were any suggestions on a sight for this gun. All of my shots are less than 100 yards...most less than 50.

Have you considered a peep sight/ghost ring setup?

Look at what Lucid offers. Had an HD7 on mine for a while.

I use a Burris FastFire III on my turkey gun and just added another to a waterfowl/trap gun. A bit pricey but very quick to pick up the dot and adds virtually no weight to the gun.

Might need to give that a closer look. I'm just trying to find something that won't snag bushes and doesn't add any real weight to the gun.

I'm looking at a fixed power 4x for mine. Something with a 32mm objective or so

If you insist on a dot sight, Lucid and Vortex are some of the best budget optics I've seen. If you're more serious, EOtech and Aimpoint are the best.

I would go with a low power scope as someone else suggested. Look up the Leupold VX-Hog. It's a 1-4x scope and is super clear. My buddy has one on his AR.

I have a red dot on my Marlin 30-30 and love it. Busted some hogs with it. My brother killed some deer with it also. Great setup

A buddy of mine has a red dot on a marlin 444 and he likes it. For no magnification i would prefer a peep sight, but thats just a personal preference.
