Many of those games look close.

I think all 3 teams were pretty close in talent around that time.

Rummel doesn't really pick kids from the river parishes. Curtis has a history of that though.

And if they played and Rummel wins a few times don't you think some of these kids that would normally go to Curtis may decide to take the trip to Metairie? Rummel is Curtis' biggest competition.

I think they fight for the same kids in Jefferson parish for the most part.

Acadiana already beat Rummel pretty comfortably this year. Just sayin'.

So did St. Augustine and by the same point margin. So the Purple Knights should have no problem beating them in the playoffs en route to the state championship......oh, wait.

Acadiana had 6 fumbles and a blocked punt, and still won by 14. They had 452 rushing yards without their best RB. Acadiana was the better team that night. The post I was replying to was asking who would be favored in 5-A without a split. I'm not saying that Rummel couldn't beat Acadiana, they very well could, Acadiana only lost a few of those fumbles in the first game so it could have been worse. But in my eyes I wouldn't say that Rummel would be favorites in a non split 5-A. They may not have even made it to the Semi's in 5-A non select

There's several kids from Bayou Lafourche who have played for Curtis and a few more have been recruited by Curtis but ended up not going.

Rummel and EJ are taking in a better quality/skilled player now in Jefferson Parish. Rummel has always been doing this, but EJ is getting some good talent the past four years.

Better families (middle class black & white) are moving into the NOLA area since Katrina and are going to these schools which is why you see both still doing well late into the playoffs.

when Salt was at Chalmette some former players were talking about how him and the head coach (Eric Collins, currently at Pearl River Central, MS) told them they were building an "all-star" team...

and lo and behold, by our standards, they did. twice when i was in HS we got the best player on Hannan to transfer, and there was Big Daddy Boudreaux who came from John Ehret and moved down to the parish to be with us...

and I have no doubt that's what he's trying to do at EJ, and it's easier since talent already lives in that area. I heard he has some kids formerly of John Curtis.

and it's working out every time their stadium is full in a way formerly reserved for Rummel and the Catholic League schools...

Last time EJ went undefeated Mike Miley was playing for them

Tough matchup this week but I hope to see another Nola area team in the dome.

I think it'd be cool to see EJ vs L/W

If Acadiana where to play Rummel again they would beat them by 3 touchdowns. This team has matured since their first meeting. If Acadiana doesn't put the ball on the ground, there is NOBODY in the state of Louisiana that can hang.

Owl, I always like your posts, and you're pretty accurate, mostly. But this is not the case. I live on the street behind the home side, and there's ONLY traffic for Rummel games and the occasional J.C. foray at Yenni. I promise. Their crowds are better than before, judging from the cheering. But they don't block up the street.

Either way high school games are crap compared to how many fans they brought pre Katrina. Shaw Rummel could bring out 10k people. Now maybe 3k.

But they will because that happens when you run the option. That's why when Acadiana or WM lose, they have 4-8 fumbles. Acadiana lost to Neville due to 5 fumbles. WM fumbled the ball 6 times against Central. It's just part of the risk when you run that offense.

Agreed. WM can't even fill their own stadium for playoff games anymore. As the great Don taught us, "It's a short walk from the penthouse to the outhouse".
