A budget deal may finally be in the works ending the sequester

After a year of political warfare over the government shutdown, Obamacare and federal spending, two feisty partisans may be close to cutting a budget deal.

Seems like Congress has had enough of the across the board spending cuts, widespread employee furloughs and warnings of a hollowed out military. They’re looking to eliminate the sequester and restore some of those cuts at least for the next year or two.

While the agreement being hammered out by Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-WA) and House Budget Committee chief Paul Ryan (R-WI) is far from a “Grand Bargain” of tax and entitlement reforms once envisioned by the two parties, it would be enough to placate both parties and avert the possibility of another government shutdown in early January.

If by "grown up" you mean part of the DC country club cabal who doesn't give a shite about the peasants as long as he's being whined and dined on the taxpayer dime or lobbyists' dime, then yes. Paul Ryan is a grown up.

I'll wait on the details before being critical. Good luck to them. Budgets are needed (and constitutionally required).

If reaching a budget deal and ending the sequester mean an increase in spending, then screw it. Leave the sequester be.

It really shows how screwed up this nation is when the sequester was met with outrage and disgust.

A strategic move by conservatives.

Keep the status quo, allow the democratic party to bear the brunt of Obamacare, win the seanate and face a balless lame duck for 2 years.

So they're only 6 years late. Do we have to wait another 6 years to get another one?

And you really, really want these people running your healthcare?

You have no idea what your talking about. Ryan is trying to stop another government shutdown. In addition, he was never for the shutdown in the first place.

One step backwards allows for three steps forward. Self-sabotaging their newly won momentum would be a fool's act. Winning both houses in 2014 gives the GOP power that forcing another govt. shutdown "on principle" could never do. Play it smart in the short-term, reap the rewards in the long-term. If the Dems end up in the minority in both houses come Jan.3, 2015, Obama will curl up in the fetal position for the duration of his term. His spirit will be destroyed and he will be the ultimate "broken man".

Throw them a few table scraps now and let them starve after the 2014 elections.
