Early in the game:
- Jimmy drops easy key first down catch
- Drew holds ball too long resulting in fumble
- CWhite drops easy INT

That set the tone right there. You can NOT pull lame shite like that in big games and expect to win.
The bigger test than last night will be flying cross country and prepping for Carolina on a short week. I hate to sound like a negaSaint but our backs are pushing to the wall now. We gotta play as many playoff games at home as possible.

Also, why did Coach SP not call for review of the play when Wilson's knee was down on the forward shuttle pass? And why was the bobbled catch on the sideline never reviewed - no way he had possession.

The three 3 and outs to start the game absolutely killed us. We kept trying to run into that front and we just wouldn't adjust. Then, we only need 6 yards just to get a single first down, and we throw a 50 yard bomb against Sherman of all people.

It was baffling that we kept attacking him all night instead of picking on 4th and 5th string CBs

It's the master plan. No one is supposed to now but the NFL is rigged like the U.S. Elections. Aliens have landed and there outside your house right now.

He was too slow. Wilson had his team down there in a hurry and ran a play. Still no excuse bc I remember them showing Payton right afterward holding the red flag. He should of thrown it.

If I'm thinking of the same play, then it looked like he caught it to me.

This game boils down to Coach Payton. He didn't have this team ready at all. The play calling was grossly predictable also. The first play of the game was an obvious run IMO. We should have hit a 5-7 yard slant to set a good rhythm out of the gate. Instead we go 3 and out on the first drive, and followed that with a pick 6 on the second drive after the defense hung in there and held them to a FG. The confidence was gone and therefore mistakes were made from there on.

I only agree that Whites dropped int was prob the only play that could of swung that game back to us. All the other drops and miscues were not gonna change a thing in my eyes.

No way that was a catch. He never had full possession until the play was over. By then he was several steps out of bounds.

I don't think we could have beaten them if all the refs' calls went our way. They were too good - period. Physical? Is that the right word? shite - they had a mental and physical edge and played with a chip on their shoulder like I don't think I have ever seen before. We looked like ULL playing a pissed off Alabama team.

IF we have a fortunate rest of season and end up getting a shot at them again there - unless we can scheme differently to run the ball well and keep that offense off the field and the fans somewhat less jacked up - we won't win.

Still can't believe we lost to the frickin Jets.

And to add we just don't match up well with that team.
They have a secondary that will man up and against are zone needy WR's and that not good.
We played all in against their run putting MJ one on one all night on WR's and we all saw what happens there.

the margin for error is razor thin when matching two NFL teams so close in talent.

At the end of the 2nd qtr they had the opportunity to go down and make it 20-14. That would have been like no lead in such a hostile environment. Instead they went up 27-7. Switch it around to the Superdome. The Saints up on anyone by 20 at the half is pretty close to a done deal. Once momentum takes off it is hard to harness.

I'd add this too- We know the rankings of offense & defense blah blah blah. Beyond rankings though I think the defense has been better than the offense on a whole. They've kept us in and won games. It's still a very good offense, just not to the elite level we have seen some other years.

Even if those three plays came out the other way I doubt it would have made much of a difference. This was a major beatdown.

Agree. Obviously still good, but there is something just not the same as what we've become spoiled to.

The non 'eliteness' is directly related to the overall weakness on the OL. '09 and '11 teams had ballers on the OL. This team, well…..

I agree the OL has been the primary factor differencing our O's effectiveness. However, other than Jimmy our receiving corps has dropped a notch, too.
It would be nice if Pierre was our feature RB.
Jarvis Landry would fit in so frikkin' well in this Offense (but wait he goes to LSU)

Except when one team punches the other over and over in the face and the other team just sits back and asks for more.
