Do you do anything special when marinating ducks or before you freeze your ducks to get this out?

I'm trying to get my wife on board eating ducks but she thinks they are to gamey. I've heard soaking in milk or wine. Any other tips?

TIA

I tried both over the years and my wife will only eat them if I cook them on the BBQ pit.

But yet, she will eat all other wild game. She's a full blooded coonass.

I don't like ducks, they're too gamey for me. I haven't tried one yet that I liked, and I've tried a lot of ducks.

Then you're not cooking it right.

What about Italian Dressing?

If I wrap them on the pit w/ bacon, cream cheese and pepper. She will gobble them up. Also when we fry them.

In a gravy or baked, won't touch them.

Same as my wife. Ate one hell of a duck gumbo my daughter made a couple days ago.

Make sure she only gets either a teal or a wood duck put on her plate.

This. Never quite understood this "gamey" thing. My ducks taste wonderfully unique, if that's what gamey means. To intentionally distort that taste is unthinkable to me. I gotta believe people who experience this are not properly cleaning and/or refrigerating their birds.

nah...you can do all kinds of soaking and brining and it will mellow a bit, but if the duck is a strong one there is not much you can do about it other than try to cover it up with some other strong flavors (i.e. smoke, bacon, etc.)....

I love the taste of duck, but I was raised eating it. I even make duck salad (like chicken salad) for sandwiches. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

Only duck taste I don't care for is when you get ducks in the marsh that get that fishy taste. They make a good gumbo, but not so good without cooking them for a while.
