With their entire bodies of work, who has given you more laughs? And what are your favorite movies of each?

With Steve I love "the jerk", and with Bill I have to go with "stripes". Giving the edge to Martin.

In movies, Murray by far. Martin has been hit and miss.

Murray.

Though Steve Martin has a higher peak.

The Jerk > anything Murray has done (And I love his movies)

Bill Murray has made me laugh more times in his career. Groundhog Day, Caddy Shack, Stripes, GhostBusters, Zombie Land, What About Bob, King Pin, Space Jam, The man who knew too Little.

Steve Martin - The Jerk, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Three Amigos, Bowfinger, Planes Trains and Automobiles, and a better SNL career.

Although The Jerk is one of my top 5 favorite comedies and Three Amigos is in my top 20. And his SNL career is much better as well.

King Pin, What about Bob, Caddy Shack, Ghostbusters, and The man who knew too little are all in my top 20.

Gotta go with Murray.

I would almost agree with this, but I put king pin above The Jerk. Big Ernie is one of my favorite comedy villains of all time.

I really like "the lonely guy" as well. Recently watched it and forgot how much I do enjoy it. "Dead men don't wear plaid" wasn't bad either. Planes, trains and automobiles..

Ghostbusters is a giant film to me and Bill shined in it. Perfect casting overall for that film. Loved Scrooged too.

Murray. I think that Martin's humor can be pretty obnoxious.

Eta: Martin loses points for raping my childhood by being a part of the abominations that are the pink panther remakes. I haven't seen them, but I don't have to.

Martin: Father of the Bride, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Jerk, Bowfinger, 3 Amigos

Murray: Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Scrooged, Stripes

I have to give the edge to Murray.

Rupret... You've been banging on your pots again.

I still give the edge to Murray, but damn this is a hard decision.

Easily BM

Martin is obnoxious. I know I'm in the minority but I just can't laugh at him. I find that in all his stuff i always enjoy the other characters more than him.

To each their own, Martin's comedy isn't for everyone. I don't find Kat Williams to be funny at all, but I love Richard Pryor. Steve was groundbreaking for the 70s though.

I think of him as the black Dane Cook.

His first stand up was hilarious then everything after that got worse and worse until he finally just started yelling observations without any jokes or comedy in his funny voice while overacting physically.

Murray, but LA Story is probably my favorite movie between the two of them.

Father of the Bride is a great movie to watch with the wife when you're looking to get busy.
