Grant Hill didn't have an agent for his highest paid years. He used attorneys for individual negotiations and saved a lot of money.
In other words, instead of giving them 4 percent, he gave them one time fees for 3-4 days of work.
The fact is most people, and perhaps almost all pro athletes, are simply not qualified to deal with complex financial decisions, and need expert representation. The Ricky Williams contract proves that.

People tell me I look like Cary Grant.

Jamie Moyer didn't have an agent. He did alright.

Carl Edwards doesn't have an agent. He just negotiated a big contract last year with Ford and Roush Fenway racing

Agents are completely unnecessary.

Yeah all of those one and done 17-18 year old geniuses coming through Kentucky can negotiate their own multi-million dollar contracts.

well NBA contracts are relatively simple. NFL contracts are much more complex

Id love to see guys that can barely handle their own money for 5 years before going broke, try and handle the finer points of contract negotiations
The lawyers and such at NFL front offices would have a field day giving these players backloaded contracts with Bloated contract numbers that the players would never see in their entire lives and the players wouldnt know it until they get that pink slip in the locker
"Hey guy, were offering you a deal for 6 years and 64 million. Now youre only going to make about 2 million per year for the first 3 years of the contract but youll be making like 20 plus million a year for the rest of the contract.....if you hit these (unattainable) escalators and we dont decide to cut you at no cost because that money is not guaranteed for the most part.....arent you glad you didnt pay 4 percent to some agent??"
"Hell yeahh im getting 64 million!!!!1"

Retards will be in here to try and rip his cover skills, but he's a playmaker and a great leader. Glad he's getting his.
He's a good player, but LOL at him being the NFL's highest paid defender.

I don't watch or pay any attention to Arizona football. Is peterson really that good to warrant becoming highest paid defender in the league

He's about to make his third pro bowl in his first three years. He's got unreal speed and size combo and he's becoming the face of the franchise.
But he's definitely not the best defensive player in the league. But the NFL is really showbusiness and he's a superstar and a huge celebrity.
