Usually the waiver wire pick ups can make your team. (Cam Newton rookie year, Jamal Charles a few years ago, Alfred Morris last year, etc) This year i needed them bad (drafted Spiller, David Wilson, Ahmad Bradshaw and Roddy White) and the waiver wire sucked when i needed it the most.
The best i could come up with was Zac Stacy, but he's still a matchup play or when other guys were hurt. And at WR, the best i could find was Golden Tate. Neither of those guys is making my team any good.

In my main league, I have the following players that I picked up off of the wire:

Josh Gordon
Michael Floyd
Keenan Allen
Andre Brown
Knowshon Moreno
Le'Veon Bell

Pretty good haul, IMO

Nick Foles
Keenan Allen
Andre Brown
Percy Harvin
LeVeon Bell

And that is from being last in waiver priority since the beginning

If you're playing in a 12 man league with people who actually know football, and by the looks of some peoples teams in these threads I question how many people actually do, the waiver wire was pretty skimpy this year. Julius Thomas may have been one, but even he was drafted in my league as a #1 TE. Le'veon Bell, Gio Bernard, J. Gordon; all these guys were drafted in my league. If they went undrafted in yours the only reason I can think of is because Gordon started the lg on suspension and Bell started injured. Unless somebody got injured, i.e Randall Cobb, Doug Martin; there were no BIG waiver possibilites that actually panned out week in and week out this year in deep leagues.

How did people not draft starting running backs in some of yalls leagues? That's just bad drafting/ leagues, not good waiver wire pick ups. Zac Stacy, Nick Foles, and Keenan Allen were the only good ones I can think of (Andre brown and harvin were pretty much stashed all season). Last season I had the worst first game so I got Alfred Morris. That was awesome.

Most of the guys listed in this thread were drafted in my league. (Gordon, Bell, Gio were all mid round picks) And the rest arent really taking anybody to the superbowl.

I got all the best ones my league had to offer (Stacy, Julius Thomas, Vereen, Bobby Rainey, Mike James before that) but none really panned out into every week starters, even with my terrible lineup. It was definitely a down year for the waiver wire.

Good one. I actually drafted him and dropped him after week 1. He could be helping me tremendously in that league right now.

Two teams: and I'm only going for the consistent

Team 1: 12 man PPR
Nick Foles
Le'veon Bell - (somebody dropped him after weeks of injury and we start no flex and only have 5 bench spots. You have to maximize on players)
Panthers D/ST
Keenan Allen

Team 2: 12 man Standard
Keenan Allan
Andre Brown

Woodhead? (Not drafted in only1 of my leagues)
