It was a total team win, but focusing in on the defense, what aspect of the defense were you most impressed with?
Scheme?
DL? LB? DB?

Quotes
“We’ve flirted with this a few times this season and always knew we were capable. I mean, we might have lost a lot of players to the NFL last year, but there’s still a lot of NFL-caliber talent on this team. We went out and played like it tonight in every phase of the game.” - Jarvis Landry

‘It ain’t going to be no shootout.’ Coach Chavis

“What’s so pleasing about this game is to see a lot of those same kids go out against a great player and a great offense and show how far they’ve come. We needed this. We needed it for our psyche, and we needed to get this done.” Coach Chavis

“Everybody stayed disciplined. Our defensive backs stayed back on their routes and didn’t try to come up and help on the run. We stayed true to the scheme, and you saw the results.” Anthony Johnson

“There’s a lot of pride on this defense, and we've haven’t always played the way we wanted to this year, but we went out there today and took our pride back." Lamin Barrow

"The defense rushed and maintained leverage and we put speed on the field and covered, That's the kind of LSU defense that we're used to." Coach Miles

That’s the way LSU defense is supposed to be played.” Lamin Barrow

I was really down on the defensive effort after the Alabama game and I have to say that this was one of best coaching jobs and team efforts from the defense I have seem in quite a while. Players and coaches should be proud of their efforts. Defensive backfield played great and scheme in containing JFF was very well planned.

All season we had no defense up the middle and teams just ran inside on us. That forced us to commit more resources to stop the run and weakened our pass coverage. Yesterday we played a team that is so soft it cant run straight ahead at all. They had no ability to exploit our defense.

One has to resist the temptation to look at the dominating performance yesterday and wonder 'what if?' things had come together sooner, and instead enjoy the win and look forward to ending the year on a high note. The D was outstanding across the board yesterday.

This is Miles' curse--he gets good players, and when it all comes together it is really special. But once or twice a year he seems to go brain dead and the team follows him over the cliff.

But I'm relishing the win and like everyone else hoping against hope that thru some miracle he figures out a way to keep things humming at a consistently high level.

The hope that springs from the human spirit is an amazing thing...
