Who would it be?
Based on titles?
Having a team ready to play?
Playing above the talent level of the team?

What is your criteria?

I have to go with Pop in the NBA
Baseball managers have very little impact on games
Football coaches have little impact as the offensive/defensive coordinator influences a game more

Not sure if best coach, but best coaching job in last 25 years has been bill snyder at kansas state

If you know how awful that program was when he showed up,it will be tough to dispute my claim

Recent history I'd probably go with Saban and Sean Payton.

Overall probably Pop, hard to argue against the consistency they've had in the NBA. Pop/Duncan to me is equivalent if not better then the Brady/Bellichek and Payton/Brees relationships they always talk about.

Incredibly myopic...considering OP asked any sport and it's a big world with professional leagues.

popovich - as star filled as the NBA is, the guy constantly drafts well, develops players, and straight up wins. Ugly wins, and boring play, but he still wins it all.

Consistency throughout the last decade and some, even without his best players at times he still gets his team far because of how well he coaches the team as a whole. Every player knows their role and he gets the best out of them.

Even without duncan playing many games, who is at the tail end of his career even though he produces on both ends of the floor still, he has the best NBA record as of today. All of his superstars are dinosaurs, but how does the team win? That's because of good coaching.

Belichick ranks high on the list. His ability to find players that fit the Patriots system is unmatched. Plus for the Pats to be successful with the talent on defense from 08 to 11 is pretty impressive. The defense we see today is night and day from the one Eli beat in the Super Bowl.
