And you think this year with 3 losses is tough to swallow?

I was looking at the LSU media guide which shows opponents, results, and our national rank going into each game all the way back to 1893. Here's what caught my eye: We started the 1989 season ranked #7 and lost the opener to, you guessed it, Texas A&M. Fell to 21st and then lost second game to Florida St. Dropped out of the polls and didn't crack the Top 25 again until the 4th week of 1995. SIX YEARS of being ranked outside the Top 25!!!! We were ranked for three weeks in 1995 but didn't crack the Top 10 until the 7th week of 1997 which lasted all of one week after a loss to Ole Miss. For today, the moral of this story is - don't worry, be positive. Sure, I hate having three losses including one senseless loss to Ole Piss, but we just lost too many defenders to the draft. But none of this will matter in the long run because we're about to have the best recruiting class EVER! And it all starts in earnest tomorrow against A&M. It's gonna be crazy loud and an awesome experience for the recruits on this this huge recruiting weekend. LSU 38 - A&M 20. Geaux Tigers!!

Miles will go with the fake "clock it" on defense as Johnny football is attempting the game winning drop kick. LSU wins for 13 men on the field. they carry him off the field into the wrong locker room. fisticuffs ensue. no comment

I thought this was going to be that aTm has a possible 2-time Heisman winner, and they lost 2+ games each year.

Remember the 90's, got it.

When you hire shitty coaches, Archer, Hallman, DiNardo hoping the fan base will be satisfied with 7 wins a season you get what you asked for when they can't even sustain that.

LSU hired Saban at then end of 1999 for $1.6 million a year - 3rd highest salary in CFB at the time. Why?!? Potential.

LSU hired Miles in 2005 at $1.2 million a year. Why?!? Cheap. Now Miles is locked into $4 mil a year for the rest of my fandom and I need someone flipping through a media guide to remind of how shitty things can downhill.. fast.

I fear LSU is heading to Oklahmo/Nebraska territory under miles.

Not with this much talent in LA these days. But it would be nice to make the most of what we have - which we're probably not doing at this point.

We used to be the big dog of the SEC

Then we became simply a contender for the SEC.

Then we became simply a contender for the SECW.

Now we are a mid-tier SEC team.

We need to give Miles a lifetime contract.

This is NOT why we lost to Ole Miss..........

LSU will be 8-4 next year as well.

We were in the national championship two years ago. We've won two since 2003. This isn't a decline, it's just a year where we aren't the fricking best or damn near close to it for once. LSU, nationally, is one of the most respected and feared teams. It just so happens that the MOST feared, and BEST team is in our division.

We've gotten the better of them recently (last 5 years). Our fan base is spoiled and ignorant, that's all there is.

A lot of other programs wish they were us. That's a fact.

Finally someone with some common sense for once.

The diff is Nebraska fired their coach and hasn't done better than either ou or lsu. Oh and let's not forget people wanted bo over miles. Even though they called for his head in 05 and 07.

No our fanbase is just spoiled.

I don't think we are spoiled. I think we are disappointed for falling short of our true potential during this glorious period of LSU football in the modern era. The OP stated this same point earlier. Like him, I believe that our coach is what is holding us back.

Well...if the shoe fits.

This upcoming recruiting class will define Miles' tenure here. If he doesn't real in a significant portion of the remaining in state talent....it could get ugly.

Yay for complacency! So what you're saying is just shut up and deal with sloppy play, undiciplined teams, clock snafus and losses to teams that are worse than us, huh?
