Your best chance is going to be a non-gaming store. Try Walmart, Target, or something like that.

I'd try target, toysrus, or somewhere else a bit more off the beaten path. I'd call ahead and make sure they'll have more to sell than are already spoken for, but it seems smarter and much less of a hassle then heading to GS.

GameStop, Bestbuy, and Walmart (if it's 24/7) are the only places that will have it at midnight.

Walmart May not have them at midnight. The walmart where I ordered my ps4 didn't bother sending it to the store until the day after release day. Walmart customer service. Proving how they singlehandedly killed customer service in America.

My buddy works for Target corporate.
He said that "most" stores have only about half of their X1 allotment sold as preorders. He also said that some stores are receiving more non-day one edition boxes on Friday.
