Co-Season Ticket holder for the first time in my life but I've attended games in the PMAC since 1984. Just wanted to come here and give my 2 cents on what this Basketball Program needs.

1) Fans in the seats. I know it's obvious but last nights game was literally like watching a game in any local HS gym. NO electricity at all.

2) It starts with the Student Section. They have ONE thing that's choreographed and it's really sad. This team needs the energy from them FIRST. The rest of the crowd will follow.

3) We finally have a good coach. JJ will bring in the talent it takes to win at LSU. I'm really hoping the fans get behind this team. It can only help for 2014 and beyond.

4)Jordan Mickey is a stud and will be a great Tiger when it's all said and done.

This program is headed in the right direction and here's to hoping the fans see what the potential is and support these guys.

Sorry for the rant, and I know it was just UNO, but the atmosphere last night was terrible.

I like the analysis. Their is no energy with only 40 students in the building. I know we are a football school but with a undergrad student body of 25,000+ surely we could get 2 or 3k.
The SS is what would get the ball rolling. When their loud and obnoxious the rest of the crowd would join in.

the way the student section is setup doesn't help. also the pmac is huge so if its not filled to capacity it looks pretty bad

the problem is most people assume the student section is just the roar core thing. It looks fricking stupid having a small slice of the student section low and then flanked by media and band and then the rest of the students above them.

the student section looks much better as one big block.

I know there are a lot more students in the arena than you see in the section... shite why would you go sit in that crap section when there's tons of seats available everywhere else...

However, I do wish the SS was a bit more active.

Dude, compared to even some SEC games in the last few years, last night's atmosphere was like Rupp.

I like it better behind the basket but why does media get that much space down low? 1/3 band, 1/3 students, 1/3 media. Students should get 2/3's of that and the band the rest of the lower behind g the basket.

I am a senior and I attend almost every home game. I have sat in the "roar section" a few times but if there are open seats that are not directly behind the hoop I would much rather sit there. Just not a very good spot to sit.

I agree the media section is miserable. It really screws up the SS.

100% correct

And I disagree about it needing to be full. It could be VERY loud with 8-10k in the building. They'd make room for extra students, if needed.

id be ok with the students behind the basket but it should be fully students not the stupid 1/3 shite. I dont know who is coming up with this shite but it sucks. The lower section should be all students and then put the rest of the student section above them. The band should move to the middle level one either side of the student section.

Agreed. Ever since the renovation I have never understood why the media got that much space down low. It almost handicapped the student section.

the pmac can get loud with only 8k but when you have 8k in a building as massive as the pmac its really hard to tell in the seats.

it really does handicap the student section and the entire setup. it kills everything when a lower section isn't taken up by fans.

ideally we'd have packed the pmac last night but i wouldn't put too much stock into the attendance on a tuesday night in november against UNO. LSU fans are extremely fickle when it comes to hoops but i am confident we will have some very good crowds in january and beyond.

This will come when more than just BB regulars start showing up when they hear they are worth watching again. Let's be honest, the last few years have been miserable. Last year showed promise with the coaching change but this is the first true year that we will be able to see a team with talk of being in the tournament play. When the team has been good, the PMAC gets filled and is rocking. Just have had some rough years as of late.

I enjoyed last night's game. This team is definitely worth getting excited over. Good news from last night is that they shot horribly (not selection wise but percentage wise) and still won easily. I enjoyed the ball movement in the offense, Stringer has come a long way as a team player since he arrived at LSU. The press was fairly weak last night, but JJ will straighten that out before SEC play.

Even UK is starting to complain about the fan support. If they can't fill their arena than it's more than just a LSU problem. When I was a student you went to all the games. Now students could care less.

Almost all the games are on TV and most people prefer to watch them on TV.

College sports are headed to trouble because with donations and tickets continuing to go up your starting to lose your core fans. You can't even bring a family to a hoops game anymore because you end up spending ridiculous prices on concessions.

I hate it too. Let them sit up in one of the top sections. I don't know who's responsible for that decision. I'll find out and we can all email him/her en masse!

A few days ago someone posted that fans should be chanting "Seven Nation Army" when it's played, just prior to the player intro, not clapping. Every college/tourney that I've been to has the student section chanting/singing loudly, their own particular song.

The first few lines of "Seven Nation Army" are:
"I'm gonna fight 'em off
A seven nation army couldn't hold me back
They're gonna rip it off
Taking their time right behind my back"

How has it been modified to be a fight song? I can see that the "I'm" can be "we", and the "me" can be "us", but what about the rest?

I think it's really cool idea, but if we don't know the words, we can't do it.
We need instructions! And chant leaders in several different sections. Like in soccer games. If you've ever been to MLS or EPL games you'll know that those fans are organized and LOUD! No reason that college bball can't do something like that.
