Thought this would be an appropriate topic on the outdoor board.
Looks like a nice mid sized 4x4.

The standard powertrain is a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine with 193 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. A 3.6-liter, 6-cylinder engine is an option, and the company will offer a 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo Diesel in the truck’s second year.

2.8l dura max as an option for second production year. That could be pretty sweet.

Looks like a Tacoma.
This might be a hit.

That's probably a typo. Probably transposed the Nm rating for lb-ft which would be in the 190's and somewhat more realistic unless that is a TGDI mill.

How much is the diesel vs gas engine

That's what I'm interested in. The 2.8L turbo diesel is sold now in the Colorado and Trailblazer overseas....with output right around 200 hp, 370 lb ft. I think this will be one of those urea injected oil burners like the 6.6L Duramax engine.

You might be right. That 270 lb ft figure is probably for the gasoline V6.

Meh, Tacoma dominates that market and I don't see it changing anytime soon

I would buy one with a deisel in it right now.

Been driving a 2009 since new. If I were going to get the new one I'd be hoping for a 6' bed option on the crew cab and better gas mileage.
I have the L5 engine and get 17mpg on a pure city tank and 20 on a half and half tank. Best tank ever was 24.5. Can't even touch a Tacoma in that aspect.
If they don't get the gas mileage significantly better than an eco-boost or eco-tech I see the Colorado staying as a auto part store fleet truck as it is now. Why drive a small truck when the half-ton trucks have more power and similar efficiency, diesel could make it interesting.

I'd order the 2.8 diesel 4x4 tomorrow if I could. Thats a fantastic sounding truck.

24 mpg is hard to beat now in any mid sized truck with the larger engine. Those V6 Tacomas and Frontiers are not very efficient.
To the consumer, how can you justify 19-20 mpg in a mid sized truck when a full sized model can achieve 18-19?

Built at the newly expanded Wentsville plant, a good thing considering the original plan when Shreveport shut down was to build the 2015+ in Thailand.

Could they have made that thing look anymore like a Tacoma?

Toyota knows they have the best vehicle in that market right now, why wouldn't they ask what they are for it

Looks more like a Jeep Grand Cherokee front clip to me.

damn, it does look pretty nice
these smaller trucks are just never priced right
doesnt usually cost much more to go full size, and usually the gas mileage benefit isnt there either
