They cut it like that a lot. Keeps the growing patterns different and then when they mow on Friday it'll be "normal" except around the eye where they leave it swirling to add to the effect.

No way. They got rid of the "eye" and the stripes will be painted purple and gold for the Texas A&M game.
It is an attempt to throw off JFF's depth perception.
