Where do you put cheese in relation to meat on things requiring layers of both?

It seems that sandwich artists, taco/burrito artists, and common people (friends/parents) don't understand that you should melt the cheese on the hottest part of the food you are prepping. Not on top of the cold lettuce or tomatoes.

So is this a mental disconnect they have, a food preference (not wanting cheese to melt), or do they just not know?

What say you? Cheese on meat or cheese on top?

Cheese should be atop the meat Festus. I touched on this briefly in my Wendy's Pretzel Bun Burger- A Review thread.

Cheese next to the meat. It gets all melty that way. Cheese in between lettuce and condiments or bread is a travesty.

See?

So why do people not care about this in making their own sandwiches, burgers, or tacos?
