One of LSU's top targets is Champagnat Catholic defensive tackle Travonte Valentine of Hialeah, Fla. The Miami Hurricanes' commitment has been in consistent contact with the LSU staff and it looks as if the Tigers' added attention may be paying off.

Another top prospect the Tigers have been quietly reeling in is 6-6, 300-pound defensive tackle Malik McDowell from Southfield (Mich.) High School. LSU defensive line coach Brick Haley took a trip to see the prospect a few days ago and word is that it was an outstanding meeting, according to sources.

Malik will be a Michael brockers or better!!! Valentine along with the other guys we got in the last cycle in 2-3 years are defense will be back to how it was. Just every once in a while you have to go through a major rebuilding phase. Not just plugging a few guys here and there

If we can land our top targets and pull these studs too...there won't be enough lotion in the world

Don't look for help with the school boards/councilors when recruiting against Miami. They have a habit of suddenly not giving a shite about clearing houses when we lead for one of theirs.

good to hear that Haley is on McDowell. It seems that Haley and Wilson are the only LSU recruiters that consistently get high, high praises from the recruits and/or parents.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Valentine's academic situation isn't about poor GPA and test score but something to do with credits.

I believe it was Jimmy Smith that said he would have to take summer courses much like Rashard Robinson to get the required credits. His grades are qualifying, just a few more courses will have to be completed.

Disagree a bit on that. Adam Henry is in on a lot of guys that LSU gets also. I do agree as someone said that I simply have never thought that Einsminger was either a good coach or recruiter. I think Corey Raymond is a good recruiter but not sure about his coaching skills for the secondary. Cooper seemed to be the real stud there which is why the USC-East boards were having meltdowns when LSU hired Cooper away from them.

I just remember a few years ago that LSU was not getting squat out of Florida...Patrick Peterson a diamond but that was it! In the last 2 years with this one still ongoing, Bain, Robinson, Battle, and in some others. Maybe that was just luck or coincidence but myself and many others were complaining about getting shut out of FL. I'm not complaining anymore. If LSU gets 2 or 3 highly though of players out of FL, Raymond is doing his job since that is his main area.

its more difficult to get a player from ohio state, michigan and big ten territory than florida which is notorious for guys leaving the state.
