About 3 weeks ago, I cut down my banana trees (about 6-8 inch diameter at the trunk). I'm letting them dry out, but was curious if they'll burn in a pile?

Once you have them it is almost impossible to get rid of them...

Dry? I don't see why not. Hell, I've seen green grass burn.

This and no, they will not burn. They will rot out first before drying out.

x2

Beyter off chopping them up and putting in your neighbors yard. If you want them gone, get a shovel. You are gonna have to dig every single bit of root out, or they'll just be back in 2 months

Thanks everybody. No I like the trees, I just cut them every winter. They really grew thick this past summer so I have a full pickup bed's worth of trees cut down. Oh well, guess I'll have more work to do.

Really? I had 3 bunches of bananas on one of the ones I cut down. They're not sweet like store bought bananas though.

In the South, it usually takes 10-15 yrs for banana trees to 'fruit'. Usually they're smaller than normal and a little bitter. Just take a machete, cut'em off about 6in from the ground and wait. They're really not that difficult to manage. Landscaped about about 15yrs...I know

don't know about that...I once poured a gallon of Muriatic Acid on a Banana tree I cut down that kept sprouting up...zip, none, nada, no effect at all...even bored 10-15 1" holes 18" deep in to it before pouring the acid...
