Can anyone give me some advice on fishing this area? I hear that the trout move through there seasonally and would like to get in on the action. It's too close to my house to not give it a try. I know where it's at and how to get there but would like advice on what the conditions need to be in order to fish there as well as baits, tide, etc.

Once you go once, and mess with that group of boats at the mouth of the pass, you won't go back. It makes the groups of guys chasing birds in Vermillion Bay in October look like southern freaking gentlemen.

I've heard of the crowds there, but I fish the Lake P trestle in the spring. Doesn't get much worse than that.

I hate fishing the pass. I fish in manchac quite often (for bass) and laugh at the people chasing the trout. There will be 100 boats in a tiny area and only about 5 boats catch fish. Yet everyone claims the fish are everywhere.

Anyway, use a 3/8 jighead with any shrimp creole colored plastic. They were also catching on fresh shrimp last week. Bite has turned off this week

Thanks. I've heard the same, sometimes they use plastics and sometimes dead shrimp on the bottom. I may run out there one day son just to check it out.

Although it's not my forte, I enjoy fishing for bass too. I've seen you post in the past about bassing in manchac which I'd like to learn about as well. If you'd be interested we could take my boat out one day.

Th e key to fishing South Pass is to fish 100 yards closer in the mouth of the pass than the other boats. People fish too far out when they stack up.

Bass fishing in manchac is very streaky. You must know what time of the year to fish certain areas
