First of all, I am still a Miles supporter but not like I was a few years back.

I am older than most people on here and remember the Tigers in the 60's 70's 80's 90's etc. In all those years but for the disasters in the 90's I don't remember an LSU team quitting like I have seen the last few years. They literally gave up 2nd half of the NC game, packed it in last year after Bama loss, and clearly quit in the 4th quarter versus Bama this week. This is clearly a discipline-character issue and needs to be addressed. Maybe I am just being ole school but you play your hardest to the whistle and to the end of the game regardless of the score. Or in my opinion any player worth having does and you better prey that most of your players have that attitude. We sure has hell know that Bama players right now do. Saban will process those that don't. This needs to be fixed now. Playing just good enough to win will bite you in the arse sometimes. (Ole Miss) (And they used to have a coach named Bear that was pretty good too but we always played hard and just about always got beat.

And btw from a former Olineman the freaking Oline is a complete freaking mess. And I would have a serious sit down with every one of them. The Ole Miss Loss and the UGA loss are on them. They look completely clueless which is inexcusable this late in the season. How you let a blitzing Lb run between two lineman who are without engagement is beyond me. I would have been benched in junior high that that shite. It is Oline 101.

Maybe they hate Mett or something but this is inexcusable

You just stated why of all things you should not be a Miles supporter. I can forgive a lot of things but Miles being a former OLineman "at Michigan no less under Bo" and OLine coach, the one constant we should have and DEMAND at LSU is excellence from the OLine. Our OLine the last 2 years has been expectations of greatness and performance woefully short. That has got to be laid on Miles feet, I don't care if Stud is the OLine coach Miles should have pride that the one area of strength year in, year out is going to be the OLine.

Dont forget the clueless fullback we chose to leave in there. He didnt pick up a blitz or freed lineman all-night. Really bad.

But hey, ole Les showed Copeland who's boss !!

I recall FB from 1976 when I went to my first game at age 5 to see a undermanned LSU team tie Nebraska 6-6.

In terms of quitting I remember a few instances.

Dinardo years: once against Arkansas when Craig Nall started. once against Kentucky when they won 31-5. once against Houston who won 20-7 and he was fired the next day.

Hallman- many times; one of the most blatant is one time against Ole Miss on the road and they won 32-0. Hallman's second game of career against Texas AM 45-7 loss. Florida 58-3. No pride that game; the low point of LSU football maybe ever.

Archer: Maybe Miami of Florida 44-3 but for the most part they played hard; just poor

Bill A. : he would not allow that. we had a strong NFL influence and things were done like the pros do it. Quitting was not accepted.

Stovall: Tulane in 81 48-7...not sure they quit in any other games. Stovall was a fine gentleman even though he had poor coordinators for 2 of 4 seasons.

McClendon: Don't really recall a time they quit. In 74-75 they didnt have good talent and other teams like Texas AM and even Miss State and Kentucky were good.

Just my analysis from my memory

You got me I have no excuse for Miles for this. The Oline has under performed this year for sure. They don't know their damn assignments. I sat and watched Mett talk to them 5 minutes after the first int at ole miss game, Les came over and talked to them for another 2 minutes, I was 20 feet away. He was clearly worried about protection the whole first half. I swear to you they don't know their damn assignments.

They aren't exactly a bastion of free thought....Need intellect to recall assignments and make adjustments.

I still support Miles, but the lack of consistency with whatever message he is trying to send the players just doesn't make any sense. I know the players see the discrepancies and it has to create animosity. A player is benched for fumbling or for picking up a PI penalty, yet another player can basically quit doing his job and get our starting QB hurt and there aren't any
consequences whatsoever. At least not yet.

My two biggest complaints with Miles.

1.) Showing up unprepared and not ready to play.
2.) Team quitting.

I've noticed LSU looks like world beaters when they show up ready to play for 4 quarters. The problem is, LSU rarely shows up ready to play for 4 quarters.

Bama last year, we showed up for 4 quarters (blown assignment with 1 min. left). Since then, in big games not so much.

UGA this year, offense showed, defense didnt.
Bama this year, both showed for a half then folded tent.
Ole Miss, both sides of the ball were terrible all game long. Entitlement theory.
Clemson last year, not enthused playing to not get hurt before NFL draft.

Lets pray Hill, OBJ, Mett, and Landry dont follow a similar path. I would hope these guys have more integrity than that but I would have bet against Sam, Keke, Reid and the boys dogging it too....

While I really hope they stay, you can't blame them if they want to go the NFL.

One more year of college ball

or

A million dollar paycheck, or at least a couple hundred thousand.

Im cool if they leave. Putting guys in the NFL helps recruiting tremendously. I just want them to fulfill their obligation to the team, coaches, and fans and bust their arse until their very last second in a tiger uniform.

I'm right in there with you guys. I have been on the fence with Miles since the 1/9 game, but after the Old Miss fiasco and the Bama game Saturday night, I can say that I have seen enough of Miles to say he has reached his peak as coach at LSU and is now on the way down. When a team quits the way they did against Bama it is a tell-tale sign that problems exist. Guess we will just have to wait and see how they are addressed.

I would say its a normal ebb and flow of college football. But, Im having trouble thinking of a coach that had bigtime success (NC's) and then faded a bit, then returned to prominence. Help me.

Saban at LSU? negative (but he left)
Bob Stoops? negative
Stallings? negative
Fulmer? negative
Pete Carrol? negative (bolted)
Mack Brown? negative
Meyer? negative
Bowden? negative

Miles? clock is ticking...

No question about that. Really interested to see if Miles still has this locker room or not. I also think its unfair to put it 100% on Miles while not considering veteran leadership. Who's our team leaders? They need to unite these boys and close strong.
