Starter Credit

Received my first card. Small credit limit, and I'm OK with that as I have barely any existing credit.

I've got a card with no annual fee, no APR for 12 mos, an APR of 13% after 12 mos, and I get 1.5 travel points per dollar.

Everything seem competitive before I activate this little bugger?

For a first card I would have no complaints with what you mentioned. My first card had a $29 annual fee, $200 limit and I had to put a $50 deposit down just to get the $200 limit.

re: Starter Credit

Good to hear. I am now a true American with outstanding debt.

To piggyback my own thread, which is totally legal, what is the typical conversion ratio between travel points and dollars?

For example: What is your rough estimate of how many points you need for a $500 plane ticket?

I am going to say anywhere between 10,000-15,000 points.

Points are usually, at a minimum, worth a penny.

I don't know what card you have, so that may not be the case.

Sounds like a great starter card but like Teddy pointed out... all points are not equal

re: Starter Credit

The APR on my first Credit Card was around 26%, but it doesn't matter how high the APR is if you pay the statement off in full amount each month like I did and still do.

Yeah, and the limit isn't anything I shouldn't be able to cover. Funny how that works out isn't it??

It's a Bank of America card, so not sure how the point system compares to other carriers...
