He led the Knicks to 18-6 after D'Antoni -- made the playoffs
...the point is -- we won't necessarily be worse off if we fire Monty now

Run and shoot Carl Smith

Karl was doing a quick fire type question thing on espn the day after we beat Memphis
One question was who was the most surprising team thus far. His answer was New Orleans. It was a positive surprising, not a negative
It's not the first time he has mentioned the team while no one else is. Pels are on his mind. Can't be a bad thing.
Only bad thing is he pronounced the city New Or-leens
I hope they wouldn't fire Monty without knowing a guy like Karl or a Sean Payton type assistant (I see you Mickey!) would be on board. Doubt Jerry Sloan coaches again, but he obviously would be great. He and Karl could still chase a ring. Is Nola the place for that?
frick a PJ Carlisimo, Hollins, Goodson, Nate McMillan
Too bad we didn't bring in Malone or budenholtzer to go with our new team

Any of these retreads is a terrible, terrible idea.

I'd take Brett Brown too.
He's done some nice things in Philly with odd and unproven talent. Evan Turner looks like a real NBA player

Here's the thing we have to remember:
We could fire Monty, and Karl could then flirt with us and then get his arse paid by the Knicks.
And then we hire Avery Johnson.
My nightmare. Careful what you wish for.

It starts with players taking accountability and stepping up.

Would he really want to coach Melo again? And that Knicks team is stuck behind the Heat, Pacers and Bulls. I'm not saying the Pelicans are better, but if he's chasing a ring the Knicks don't seem like a desirable location.

They won't fire him during the season. Nor do I think Karl is the automatic replacement.

Just throwing out an "as an example". In a vacuum, virtually any coach would rather coach in Manhattan, in MSG, at one of the most storied franchises ever over us. And I'm sure they can pay a lot more.
It could be any big market team. I'm just saying...we shouldn't count our chickens.

Someone needs to get Avery Johnson a job before Monty gets fired.

What about Poppovich? any chance he wants to come coach the next Tim Duncan once Timmy retires?
...I'm not aware of his contract situation.
Coaches have to see potential for contending when they're watching Davis right now
